Verizon 10GB/mo for $80 starts 10/28?

Multiple sources are reporting that rumored "tiered pricing" for Verizon's data service will start on Oct. 28

Among the options rumored to become available is one that provides 10GB of data for $80/mo

I think its a good thing that verizon realizes some folks could really use more than 5GB of data in a month.

Other rumored pricing can be seen at my blogpost

tim43...who is your carrier? I have Verizon and they say I will only get 5G if I go with a Droid. As far as Verizon tiered pricing I will comment on that. We have the MiFi and it costs $60 a month for 5G access. We are now at the stick house and they have lowered it to 250MB for $40 a month. I could suspend it for 90 days at a cost of $15. They are also going to change the pricing so that overage fees will be smaller. Amen to that brother!!

We have the DROID also, but haven't used PDANET. Are you using he free version from the APP store? or the one for $16.00.

Does it work as of you are in WIFI mode, but just conected with the USB cable?

Thanks,
Tom

I just use it tethered to the laptop using the USB cable and the paid for version of PDAnet. Right now I have unlimited internet access per my contract with Verizon and I don't ever plan to change that.

We also have Droid and use PDANet. We use the USB cable because it also charges the phone while you are on the Internet. Battery will go down pretty quick if you are on the Internet.

You can get PDAnet for free without secured net. Then for secured net and Lifetime use it's around $18 or so one time fee. The Link is Junefabrics.com....no joke.

we have verizon htc incredible droid and use pdanet downloaded to our laptop and selected app from our Incredible phone. I think Blackberry and some others with Verizon can do the same.

No fees but caution not to download excessively when using. Our droid cell phone rings during internet usage and "parks" the internet while using PDAnet. It's worth a look for you verizon users.

Do you have to download pdanet to both your DROID and your laptop?

Alex, we still are grandfathered with the unlimited for $60. Any word on whether they're going to change that on us or will we continue with unlimited until we do something to change our plan?

I'm grandfathered in too, and trying to make a decision on keeping the unlimited VZW broadband, or using my Droid for unlimited access. For now, I'll keep both to be safe than sorry. decisions decisions :-(

For what it's worth, we were grandfathered Alltel unlimited and our old plan was canceled when I changed (updated) my phone, had to move from an Alltel phone to a Verizon phone and a Verizon plan.

A friend emailed me that her AT&T unlimited changed to 5GB limit. There apparently was notification of this on the last page of her statement where it's very easy to miss it. I'm paperless with Verizon so I guess I best go see what I can find out.

I just checked my plan online and it still says it is unlimited. Hopefully that won't change.

Ditto on the droid/pdanet.....been using it for about two months now, and works great, even sitting in a rest area. Pdanet has to be downloaded to both computer and phone. They also have a version for the blackberry, but my wife's been unsuccessful in getting that to work.

We have Verion Mi-Fi since June and were told the $60 price was good until our plan expired in 24 months. Hope so since I love it at home and on the road.

The new rates are at Verizon's website. $50/month for 5GB and $80 for 10GB. Also, $35 for 3GB and $20 for 1GB.

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/m...nd/?page=plans

I think I'll stay with my Android Fascinate and PDANet $0/month extra. Of course, I haven't tried the phone and PDANet in the wild yet.

Since today is 10/28 I just checked my account online. We still have unlimited mb allowance. I think we'll just keep exactly what we have for as long as it works for us.

I did notice for those on the new rates, the over gb additional cost is $10 per GB. Since the 5GB plan is $50 and my unlimited is 59.99, that means I'd pay the same for the 5GB plan plus 1GB overage, or 6GB total. I'll still stay with my unlimited until they change it.
