Yup, everyone is correct... In Oregon, gas MUST be pumped by attendant, diesel not as demanding since it's not as flammable, but I allowed them when they came out. Most are nice about it when explaining their presence. I've heard that there are at least two reasons: first, there is safety (especially with gasoline), and second, putting people in jobs to ease the state aid. With rumors of explosions from cell phones, opening car doors or other spark creations or errors when dispensing, whatever the reason, it works for Oregon. Don't forget it's Oregon. I heard rumor that Oregonians voted 100% absentee ballot one year, which saved them $$$ not having to have as many voter booths, if any. But it's a nice, green, beautiful state with much to offer and even with attendants, their fuel prices are lower than where I live in California.

When an attendant pumps your fuel you still have to be aware.
Exactly! Like putting Gas in a Diesel tank

Elections in Oregon are 100% mail-in ballots, and has been that way for many, many years.

In 1995, Oregon became the first state to conduct a federal primary election totally by mail.

In 1998, Measure 60 made Oregon the first state in the United States to conduct its elections exclusively by mail.

In the south they would call it what it is, " a state mandated jobs program".
