Champion Generator 9375/7500 Dual fuel

Is this a good unit to use on our 5th wheel? What about the noise level?
Anybody using the one from Camping World?

Thanks,Larry

74db for the Champion compared to 53-59db's for a Honda 2000i doesn't sound like much, but will make a difference for you and your neighbors. The rangers at a few Federal campgrounds enforce noise limits and supposedly it's 72db, but I have no actual experience with how likely the checking is and how much variation they allow if and when they check.

At about 80 db, it is much louder than the inverter type generators, and doesn't have the voltage controls that the inverter generators have too. I also would not run it installed in the trailer where an Onan would be installed.

My Harbor Freight is quieter than that (64db measured!)!

6 DB doubles sound pressure. When you go from 53 to to 73 DB is not 1/3 more noise. It's a lot more than that.

About any open framed generator won't make any friends at a campground. They have little to no sound deadening in their design ... thus the price is cheaper. Plus at @ 230 pounds ... you'd better be pretty stout to horse it around.

I have that Champion dual fuel generator for the house. It is the loudest generator I have ever heard. I personally would never use it at a campground. In addition it heavy as all get out.

Larry, there are a lot of better options out there. Honda, Yamaha, some knock offs, etc. Many of us use the 2000 watt Gen sets with a parallel kit. Lighter, quieter and flexibility to run only one if you want. Plus, if you are running electronics you want the inverter style.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you go the 2kw route, you'll need TWO of them to run your AC. Two ganged together make twice the noise in spite of them being inverter types. I started with two Yamaha 2400is generators that ran everything nicely, but were actually about as loud as the HF one I've got now. I don't know why the current one is as quiet as it is as HF claims it's the same as the Champion at 74db. I was so surprised at how quiet it was I scrounged a sound meter from a friend and measured it at 10'. Maybe mine's a fluke, but I'm happy with it.

I only have two gennies with the parallel cable, but I saw a cable several years ago, that allowed three Hondas, to be interconnected to get closer to 50 amps. I remember the price of the cable was about $500, plus another Honda for about $1000 and that was two steep for me and I have stayed with just my duals. If you know how decibels work, the all three of these units are about 53 decibels (it is not additive). If a generator is over 75 decibels, that is logarithmically louder by a lot.

I have used them as such and while I can run one A/C, I wouldn't be able to run two A/Cs (plus TV, etc.), so it's a good thing I don't have a second A/C. That unit you describe is too loud,

This is another option from Costco.
It is listed as 51 decibels.
