pass thru latching

Since day one, I noticed that the street side door wasn't latched as tight in the front as the back of this door. Yesterday, I decided it was time to correct this factory issue. The latch catch hardware installed on the bottom of the frame was the issue. Whoever did it had no clue. 1- the holes drilled allowed for no tightening 2- the hardware wasn't centered on the slam latch capture area 3- the center hole for "locking" position once the adjustment was correct was even closer to the outside of the frame. So it was move catch hardware over so new holes could be drilled and completing job as it should have been. Gee, it works now and is closing tightly. I know I should have done this two plus years ago, no excuse. John

Your post is timely. Just this morning we found two short screws on the floor of the pass through. We found that they fell out of one of the door latches. We checked every screw on the door latches and closer hardware and found more than half that had worked loose. A screw check is now added to our PM list.

Screw and bolt checks are routine with us. Locktite is my friend.

Funny you mention this. I too tightened the brackets several weeks ago. Just like yours too - the center screw was too close to the exterior and didn't tightly hold the door.
