Question from a never been boon docker
How much does the camping fee run on the BLM area where the Rally is taking place and can you pay for it with check or is cash the only option?

If you're referring to the circling of the Montana's it's free, like helmick said. Max stay 14 days.

Thanks guys. Going to be some fun learning this year since we have only been off the grid for single nights at a time. Things like trying out the extended run fuel tank, water and black tank issues etc could lend some amusement for folks around us.

Dick-- You do have to register with the on-site camphost as you enter area and get a slip to put in your window but the camping on the BLM land is free as stated by others responding previously!

You can park your rig and then go down and sign in. The registration does have turn around space there, but if there are rigs there it makes snug turn around.
We have always parked and then gone back.

Dick I think you can camp on BLM land anywhere for free. If you won't to find BLM land Delorme has their Topo software that has all government land shown in different colors. It is about $100 and I think I have an extra copy that I will give you. Email me if you won't it.

There are long term areas of BLM land that are not free. There are several in or around Quartzsite.
A very quick and not very thorough search found this:
BLM
$40.00 a week or $180.00 for the season, per data at this link.
This is NOT to be confused with the 14 days of free camping out on Plomosa Road where the MOC Circle will be held.

Thanks Carol, since we work out here in the middle of the BLM area I was aware that there are long term areas that charge and short term areas that charge and also free areas. What threw me was when we had to check in with the ranger. I didn't realize that applied to non-paying sites as well as paying sites.

It's free, but they want you to register so they make sure you only stay for the 14 days you are allowed. It's their way of keeping track I guess.

Dick- We were in your exact position two years ago. Then we came out to the Circle at Q and learn a lot. You'll be a perfect spot as there are many seasoned veterans surrounding you and lots of assistance. You'll be fine and have a blast. We did! Looking forward to your arrival.

We're counting on it. Moc folks are always great teachers and this time we'll be one of the ones soaking up the ideas.

Friends ask why anyone would want to go to Quartzite. I tell them it's not the location but the people. Can't beat the fee either. I plan on learning from the seasoned folks also.

There's a lot to be said about the location also. Join us on Monday for the hike to Palm Canyon and you'll get to see a whole new side of the area.
