Brake Controllers.

It's time to replace my brake controller. I would like to have some recommendations.

We had a Prodigy in our SUV when we were towing the TT -- it worked great and we were very happy with the performance. We used it for one summer and then traded the vehicle. Randy took it out and we are actually looking to sell it. PM me if interested!

I used to be a loyal Prodigy owner for years ... I installed a Max Brake this Spring ... Boy Howdy it's way better hands down. No more adjusting your boost setting once in the campground ... the trailer truely follows the braking of the truck no matter what surface conditions your trailer is traveling over. It's really the same principal as the newer truck integrated controllers ... runs off hydraulic pressure generated by how hard you push down on the brake pedal. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Install is easy ... really no more work than a Prodigy or similar product. I recall one person on the MOC had an issue with cross-threading the threaded tee that you have to install on your master cylinder. If you follow a mechanics basic rule about starting it by hand several turns before you grab a wrench ... all will be well. And no I don't get any compensation for my testimonial

Before Ford came out with in-dash controllers, I used prodigy with no issues.

Max Brake all hydronic taps into the break line. Smooth stopping. Loved it. Now have new truck with built in break. Would buy again. Easy install myself with no mechanical knowledge. Expensive but worth every dollar IMO.

Also endorse Max Brake. However I messed up the OEM brake line re-install into the Max Brake T fitting so it cost me almost as much to get fixed as it cost. But its worth it as it is so good/smooth/effective. Saved me on an emergency stop on a wet road with Truck ABS chatter I'm sure.

We had a Prodigy before the Silverado and Ram Integrated controllers. Never had to adjust any of them. Our first controller was a Voyager, which did require adjusting.

I've had a Prodigy and it worked great, but the Max brake sounds great. I would haft to look into it if I needed one. It sounds more like a built in controller.

You prefer the Max brake over the built-in in your signature truck?
