Carry Rack Finally Done!

Here is a link to pictures of my version of what Tom S. designed: Carry Rack
. The black cable in front of the hitch is an extension cord for my trailer's plug and the thing between the two gas tanks is a tripod hitch with canvas bank bags covering the ends so they don't carve something up.

Thanks! Took more planning than it looks like. Happy to have that task behind me.

What size are the small propane tanks and what do you use them for? When you disconnect and travel do you remove everything? I am asking because I may go this route or try to get everything in or on the Monty.
Looks good and very functional.

The little tanks are for my BBQ Grill. Their 4.25# tanks I got from Loews. They don't carry them in store, but I saw them on their website and they will order them if you go to a store. I'm sure they are probably available other places as well, that's just where I found them. If you remember a month or two back I was trying to find out why it was a bad idea to lay propane tanks on their side, that's because the space I had for a 20# tank had to leave room for the king pin to pass thru. Finding that idea was a bad one, I had to go back to the drawing boards and find a way to make it happen. I hate dealing with the little 16oz tanks, for me they always find a way to run out at critical times. I'm a little like Ozz in that I don't take no it won't work for an answer. I just don't have his skills.

Looks great Dick. They are handy even when you aren't using them for the generators too, to keep stuff from sliding around.

Good point! And thanks so much for sharing your pictures and plans. Without that I would have never had the idea and certainly would have had some "try it and rebuild it" experiences.

Add a little C-4 and you can get a job in Iraq. Just kidding, great way to keep things together.
Question, you do have a cover for your bed when not hooked up right?

Nice job. I like that you have allowed for the pull cords on the generators. Sure the on/off switch is covered a little bit, but you should still be able to operate them. Good job.

No I don't, and that's what caused me to change the way Tom had his laid out. The way I have my gens pointed rain or snow blown in is less likely to pack the outlets or the exhaust on the gens. You may also notice that besides the tie downs there are two cables about the size of my thumb and two giant master locks locking everything to my rear bed tie down points. Not theft proof, but it would take some work.

Exactly why we have the propane hose setup connected to the curbside tank. Just connect it to the grill as needed. Or to an external 100 lb. propane bottle if we're doing some chilly weather for awhile. Works well for both.
