Hydaulic Slideout Issues
Hello All,
We're having issues with our hydraulic slideouts, but I'm not sure if it's actually normal operation. When I open the slides on battery power in the storage lot, they open right up. But when I close them again, they stop and you have to let go of the button for a few seconds and do it again. It's like they drain the power and you have to give it a few seconds for the system to recharge. It can take 10 to 15 times before everything is closed. Is this normal on battery power? Thanks

That is a symptom of a bad auto reset circuit breaker. Though normally it occurs both extending and retracting the slides. The breaker overheats, opens up, cools down, closes, overheats, etc, etc. A common problem many of us have experienced. And an easy fix.
Does it do it on shore power also?

I don't know if it happens hooked up to shore power. How do you fix it? Where is this breaker? Thanks.

There is an undersized self-resetting circuit breaker on the slides. The start/stop is due to it overheating, and interrupting the circuit until it cools down, and then continuing on. There has been numerous discussions on this "feature". Here is a link to a popular solution:

You can find many more discussions on this topic by Searching on keywords such as "slide circuit breaker". Be sure to check the "Archived Posts" box so the Search function will look at older postings. That is where the most of the information resides.

A quick search found this previous discussion, one of many. Some of us have replaced the bad breaker with two 40 amp breakers in parallel. Others have replaced the 40 amp breaker with an 80 amp.
slide start/stop discussion
But if your battery is low voltage, that could cause the motor to pull more amps than it should. Check to see that your battery is fully charged.

It's particularly common when it's cold and it's harder to move the fluid thru the lines. Keystone replaced mine with an 80amp under warranty.

Generally not a problem when hooked up to AC. Pedestal connection is the first and last thing I do when hitching, unhitching. Nevertheless, we also upgraded to 80Amp

We replaced just the auto breaker that feeds the hydraulic pump. We had the problem with the slides as well as the leveling jacks. The old breaker looks like the first photo, the new one, an 80 amp breaker that can be a manual or an auto reset style, looks like the second photo. We have never had the system stop since changing the breaker, and this change was approved by Lippert.

I bought it online, don't remember if it was ebay or amazon. Here is a link to one for sale: https://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-BP-C...ssmann+breaker

Drillagent, I have had the same issue and have figured out that a lot of amps are drawn when operating the slides and level up. First thing I do now is plug into sure power or my genny before operating the slides or level up and I have not had a problem since. While you are plugged in the converter will supply much more voltage while operating those heavy draw systems. Also you could leave the cord plugged into the truck with it running while you operate the slides. That should also provide you with enough power to operate them.
