You will get both sides of the answer here. My input is they keep stuff off the top of the slideout, they provide a shade that allows the roof of the slideout to remain cooler, they shade the top seal so its life is greatly extended, and they can, given enough wind, cause some noise if the wind direction is from the right direction. Would I be without them...no. john

Toppers ..yes. Keep stuff off the top of the slides. Keep water off the top of the slides and the chance of leaks. Helps cool the top of the slide. In 10 years the wind noise has bothered us maybe 3 or 4 times. Snow ice....we do not do snow and ice.

I'll have to check things out a little further, I wasn't aware that the toppers came with or without covers, there's so much to learn. Last year we were quoted $1,500 for product and install on 6 slides, hopefully, they will still be close to that price, I doubt they have decreased in price.

I have a 2016 3160 that came with slide toppers over 2 of 3 slides, not over the kitchen slide. Wish it did but could not I guess because of the awning mounted on that slide. That top always has pine needles, leaves, etc on it...

Both of my previous Montana's did not have slide toppers. I had a Winegard Travler Direct dish on top so we generally had sites that were not under trees, Never had issues with leaves, debris, or leaks on top of my slides.

Now, with that being said, our current MH has them, even on the awning slide. I suspect they may help keep those slides a little cooler in the warm weather and I am sure it will protect the roof material of my slides against UV. I am sure rain can still blow in the sides of them and I have already dealt with a couple large spiders that think that area is a good place to built condos.

I guess it is like everything else, you have to weigh the benefits and decide if it is worth the money.

Sorry the quote for around $1500 was two slide toppers and the 16' awning. My son just replaced the awning for me, I bought it on-line for a little over $200 and I'm going to wait on the slide toppers

That's right about the price I was just quoted for 3 on our 2004 2955

Guess I'm in the minority, but have never had them in 15 yrs of RV'ing and two 5th wheels. Always get up on top and sweep the slides off when leaving the campground. Not worth the price as far as I am concerned.

Having had to wipe down the super slide while retracting in the rain on a previous sob, I would not have gone without them on my Montana. Five slides, no muss no fuss, retract and go.

I was at the dealer last fall dropping camper off for service and asked about having the toppers installed. One of the dealer techs told us it would be a waste of money because the canvas starts sagging after a couple of years so we would be replacing them soon after. Have you guys experienced problems such as this with your toppers? I hate climbing the shaky extendable ladder with leaf blower in-hand, but $150 - $300 for each of our 6 slides makes me think twice about buying them.

Yes another thing when I went to a local family owned R.V. shop for a price on installing the slide toppers, The owner (Who I've been doing buisiness with for atleast 20 years) told me he wouldn't own them on his rig. He says he gets people having problems all the time. He say's alot of stuff gets blown onder the canvass, making it harder to clean off. And thay most of the factory installs that come in to his shop, are becuase the toppers are to flat. The water doesn't shed off like it should. Anyway I think it's one of those things where you either love them or hate them. Although the owner of the shop was a key part in my decision to not install them.
