gas oven
One of you said you didn't order the gas oven! I want to hear from other women about their use of the gas oven. Will it bake cakes, pies,
etc. Right now, in our stick home (we are not FT yet) I use my home oven very little; instead I use my larger capacity toaster oven to bake meat loaf, small casseroles, etc. This works fine for me.

Donna says she likes her oven. She likes baking tarts, muffins, cakes, and home made pizza, (as I mentioned in another thread, she also cooked a thanksgiving turkey one year). The broiler is useful for chicken and steak if conditions don't favour outdoor cooking. If not used for actual cooking, it is still used to heat plates and keep things warm before serving.
She also likes the half time oven, but would not give up the regular oven. I guess it all depends on your lifestyle. We prefer to eat our home prepared food rather than eating out a lot.
Also, don't forget that you can still use the gas oven when power is not available, or limited.

Although we use our oven very little, I like the fact it is there if I want it. It also makes a great storage place. I will probably use it even more now that I know you can leave the pilot lit when parked. This is our 3rd 5th wheel and I didn't know this until talking with fellow MOCs at the rally.
Happy trails................

We do use the oven for pizza, but for the most part, we use the half time oven in the microwave. It works beautifully, only thing we have discovered is that you can't use aluminum foil in the half time oven.

I love my oven and use it all the time. I got used to using it in our old campers. I was so glad to see one in the Big Sky they stoped putting them in RV's for awhile. It was due to lack of parts. If you ever dry camp they are great. It is not like the oven in your stick built home but once you get used to it you will love it. I've use mine for baking about every thing.

I use my Oven a lot. I use a Pizza Stone in it to stop things burning by getting too hot on the bottom. The only problem I have is getting Colin to light the Pilot Light as in the 3400 he says you need to be a deformed pigmy to get between the centre island and the oven (he is 6ft 4in).

We agree about the pilot on the 3400. Did you know you can leave it lit while you are parked? I think a seven foot single guy designed the 3400 except for the oven. Or maybe since he was so tall he could lay on the floor and reach back there with his long arms. Ed said the guy also never sat on the commode.

We use our oven 24/7/365. We found it a great place to store 4 rolls of paper towels. Our oven has never been turned on and other than storage has not been used.

We are the ones that said we will not order the oven.Helen figured that in all 5 of our campers that had ovens we may of used them 4 or 5 times.I remember that she cindered a chicken once and baked a cake that we had to chip out of the oven. She says they heat uneven and are to small for any real cooking.Since we used it for storage most of the time she decided to turn the space into storage space..You CAN order without the oven...

We basically use ours for storage. I'm not even sure if it works (never been lit).
My wife loves the Half Time oven and wants one for our stick house.

I keep a narrow basket at the back of our stove. The other day I had to make a desert in our oven that baked at 400 for 1 hour. I did not realize how much heat comes from the oven to the top of the stove. My basket had bananas and a loaf of french bread in it. We wound up with baked bananas and french TOAST for our snack. Still laughing about it but you can bet I will not have anything on the top of the stove while baking again.

I'm with Helen on this one. I had the oven taken out and a storage shelf and cabinet doors added. In the 3670RL the cabinet where the oven was is HUGE, but lots of space is wasted with the oven installed. I do just fine with the propane stove top plus half-time oven/convection/microwave. I don't bake cakes, though.

Wileecoyote,
If you're really interested in another 1/2 time oven, see my post in THE TRADING POST A MOC MARKET PLACE (5 Nov). I replaced mine (unused) with a standard Panasonic, and it's available.
