Slide Relay/Fuse

Since I installed the 80 amp relay/fuse in my slide circuit, I have not had one delay in my slides going in and out. Thanks MOC Members for the worthwhile recommendation. Don't put it off.

Glad it worked for you. Makes you wonder why Keystone doesn't just install the proper breaker to start with.

Last year at our SOB Rally in Shipshewana we had the Lippert Techs look at an issue we were having with the Level-Up System. First thing the Techs did was to install a new 80 amp Circuit Breaker in a direct line from the Batteries to the Pump Motor.

It is kind of ridiculous, this is fifth wheel number (4) for us, two were SOB, two were/are Montana's. Same problem with all of them. I've purchased an 80 amp breaker for the new Monty, I know the factory breaker will fail in a year of so, I agree with Rohrmann, why?

Funny I am going on 5 years with this original 50 amp breaker with no problems. I have an 80 amp ready to go in when needed however.

This is one place. https://www.amazon.com/Cooper-Bussma.../dp/B001PTBVLW
You can just search for '80 amp bussmann breaker', and you will find a number of sources.

Front compartment on the back wall just behind the battery. probably have two. one goes to the hydraulic pump, the other to the rest of the trailer. upgrade the one wired directly to the pump.

I want to second the thoughts here about replacing the original 50 amp breakers with an 80 amp. I had both the level up system and the slides trip the old breakers. In reading this forum I learned about the 80 am fix. Really easy to replace both and have been very happy with the results.

Its funny that Keystone has replaced them at the rally's, according to this forum, and yet will not admit that when I asked customer service about it. Unfortunately that has been my experience with Keystone customer service, no help, only pushing me to my "local dealer" or the local dealer Tiara, who have been wonderful. Our local Keystone factory rep has been very helpful with questions even providing his cell number for easy access.

Ok I'm confused not the first time .... I have a Montana high country 358bh with cable slides (5 slides) put them out and one of the five usually the big one will just click and buzz have to wait a couple of hours then it works . So I ordered the 80 amp breaker as a fix from the link above (amazon) but there is nothing that resembles that anywhere in the battery storage area . I have three red looking fuse covers one has positive to positive from battery the other two must go ???? Slides and level up ? Question is where is where do I put the new 80 or is mine different than the others on line here.. any help would be appreciated. It goes into dealer 0ct 17 and we use every weekend . Thank you
Jeff

The fix for the 80 amp breaker as far as I know is only for the rigs that have hydraulic slides. To me it sounds like the motors aren't big enough for the slides and are overheating. Do they stall just coming back in or going out also?

If your system is made by Accu-Slide give them a call. When I owned my SOB with all cable slides I talked to their trouble guy "often" and he would stay on the line with me while I checked things out. That was 4 years ago so hopefully the same person is still there.

my SOB would trip putting the slides in and out and even retracting the landing gear. I changed mine in the monty yesterday. took all of 10 minutes

We found if we bring the main slide (biggest ) one out first than all the others work without any hic ups . They already replace the motor and clutch so that can't be it . Goes in the 17th they will look at it again . It will act up either coming in or out but can only get it to fail if the first three slides go out first , than it won't move just buzzes but if we hit our bedroom slide it will go out .

What happens when you have a 50amp fuse instead of the 80amp?

Slide and jack operation will pause until the fuse automatically resets.
