I had a Reese Signature 18k in my F450 and it clunked starting and stopping. It had the four puck mount, not the rail, and the legs were adjusted snug, so the noise must be in the head? I now have a B&W Companion in my 2013 RAM 3500 and there is NO noise! Absolutely quiet! At first I thought something was wrong, but no it is just quiet and I like it that way.

Yes, the noise you heard was the one BB_TX fixed with the plastic cover.

I took BB_TX's solution/fix and installed the plastic electrical cover in my Reese hitch. My Reese slider is of course on rails and I could detect some slight play where the pins hold it down to the rails. I removed one pin at a time and wedged small pieces of vinyl material in between, then replaced the pins. It is pretty tight so if the pieces of vinyl stay in place that should also help with the noise.

I will have to try that also, never felt there was enough room to put anything in there, and still be able to get the pins back in
