Specification Differences

We just recently bought a '05 3295RK. Just love it but haven't got to make the maiden voyage yet. I've been wondering about something. I looked at the Keystone website for the specifications of the 2005-2007 3295RK's and each year there are differences in both the length and the hitch weight. Have they indeed made changes or are these figures in error. I can't tell by the floorplan drawings if the '07 is nearly 2ft longer than the '05. Just wondering.

Hi bdar4014,

First of all, welcome to the MOC. Good place to post your questions. They do make changes from year to year, but I wouldn't count on what is posted on they're website. We bought a 2006 2980RL 12 months ago, and liked you I watched their website, and in a four month period they had posted 3 different lengths and weights for our 2006 2980RL. That was just for the 2006 year. Go with the tag on your trailer (driver's side) and should also be a tag inside one of the cabinets with info just on your unit.
Hope this helps.

The only way to know for sure is drop a plum line and mark the ground in front than in the back. Measure between the marks and then you will know. The information changes all the time on all models. I have owned 2 units and both were longer than Keystone states.

Welcome to the forum Bdarr4014!

I agree with the gentlemen above - the markings on the trailer should be the most accurate (side tag and cupboard) for weights and capacities, and a tape measure for length. I noticed that for 2007 alone, there is a 1' difference in lenth between the online specifications and the brochure specifications for the same model.

Same story here. Ours says 37' 8" but measures 39' 1".

I suggest you also lay a board (make sure it is level) across the highest point and drop a line to the ground. Then measure the line to get your true height. It makes driving under low bridges more comfortable if you know the actual height. Ours is 2 inches taller than the published height. It's best if you can do this when hitched up.

Some parks have different size lots both back-in and pull-thru. Therefore it is good to know how long the 5th wheel is as well the total lenght when hooked up.

I forgot to address a couple of your questions. First, keep in mind the hitch weight will be more than advertised, by a few hundred pounds, depending on how you load the rig.

As for whether length changes year to year, I'm not sure. I suspect it does. For example, the 2007's have a king size bed option while our 2003 3295RK did not. So, was the rig made longer to accommodate that or was the interior layout changed to make room for the bed? Or both? Also, the late 2003 models and later have a deeper front closet than did our early 2003 model. Etc.

Bottom line is I really am not sure. Our early 2003 3295RK measured 36' 4" from ladder to nose. Maybe those with later models who have measured theirs will post here so we can see how the length has changed.

Send a message via MSN to Parrothead
My understanding was the length advertised was without ladder and pin. Maybe that is what the difference is when we measure ours.
Happy trails......................
