Sony TV sound drop off fix. Firmware Update.

I figured I start a fresh post so people can find it easier.

Turn on your Sony TV and hit the "HOME" button.
Scroll down to "SETTINGS" ENTER
Scroll down to "SETUP" ENTER
Scroll all the way down to "PRODUCT SUPPORT" ENTER
Scroll to "CONTACT SONY" ENTER

On this screen you will find the website to go to and the model, serial number and software version (FIRMWARE).

The new software from the Sony website is ver.1.012 which fixes the sound dropping out. You only need to do this if your software is 1.011 or lower.

My Software ver was 1.009 and model is KDL-40R450A.

Write down the model number to enter on the Sony website and follow the instructions. Very simple to do. Just need an empty usb stick.

The website is www.sony.com/tvsupport

On the right side of the web page see "Select a type of support" then select "Drivers & Software".
Then input your model number including the dash. Then click on go.
Select tab for "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE"
Then click on "FIRMWARE" and click "DOWNLOAD"

Once you down load the software to your computer, open the folder and copy the contents to an empty usb stick. Follow the instructions from the website to upload to your TV.

thanks for this. My update worked fine and I'm now at v1.012. I was at v1.009 before, same as you. It shouldn't take but a few hours of listening to see if this is fixed. Thanks again.

This might be a dumb question but.....How do you get it from the USB Stick to the TV?

The instructions on the website where you download the firmware has the instructions on unpacking the file and then on updating the firmware in the TV. Basically, you unzip it and put in at the root directory of a USB key, then unplug the TV while it's running, then plug in the USB key, then replug the TV power cable and it updates automatically over a few minutes.

What do you mean your ok. Your version 2.009? Did you mean 1.009. If not then you must have a different model than what we have.

KDL-40R450A.

Nothing to be sorry over. at least you checked it and I wouldn't think you had the sound issue.
