axle rating

Looking at the side info on my trailer it states a axle capacity of 6750lbs,is this right?thought they were even weights as 6000 and 7000 lbs.

Your 3400 will have 7000# axles, however because Keystone use "E" rated tires that are rated at 3402 lbs for a total of 6804 for each axle they must reduce the rating to comply with federal rules that requires the axle to be rated by the least common denominator, that in this case is the tires.

A Big Sky coming from the factory with G614's would be rated at 7000# on that sticker, because that tire is rated at 3750 per tire or 7500# per axle.

All RV manufacturers do the same thing.

It's not a bad thing to do. Peace of mind going down the road makes for a much more enjoyable tow.

RichR-- You can always crawl under the Monte and check to see what you actually have on the unit. There are tags on each axle stating what the rating is on each. If the tag is gone there should be etchings in each. Check it out and see if that is the case and what you actually have under your rig.
