RPI?

What do you all think of Resort Parks International (RPI)? Looking for any of you that have had experiences with them (good or bad), mainly those in Washington state. How much does it cost to join a park...their info states that it up to the local park to set their price.

We have a membership in Holiday Trails in BC, Along with AOR, RPI, and Coast to Coast. they are all good but in peak season you have to reserve well ahead of time. With any Western Horizons' membership you now can only get AOR. When we retire we will probably drop RPI but for now it gets us into so resorts that we can't use the others for. Our system has 1 US campground and 8 in Alberta and BC. Without membership camping a few years ago we would have had to cut back on the amount of camping we did. I hope this helps. We had RPI and liked it very well but we dropped it because we found that in most cases where we could use RPI we could also use our Coast-to-Coast membership. Both are about the same price but we have a membership in a park in Desert Hot Springs, CA which is our home C-to-C park, so we dropped RPI. Don't let anyone tell you not to get it. It's reasonably priced and there are a lot of parks you can get into that Passport America won't get you into--and it's cheaper.

We have C2C, Resorts of Distinction and AOR all with a base out of our home park. We like the membership parks because most are very nice and reasonably priced. C2C - $8/night, AOR - $6/night and ROD - $ zero/night. As Orv said, don't be talked out of it AFTER looking and seeing if the parks are right for you. Many, but not all, are destination parks and not located easily next to well traveled highways.

As of June 1st AOR went up to $8 a night. Such hardship for a 4 and 5 star resort

Thanks to all for the info. We are looking at around $3000 to join. Is that about right?

You have to watch some of the sales staff as they are on commission. Some people we meet bought K&M resorts and they wanted to sell the one park and no reciprocals. someone told them to tell the salesman they wanted all parks and 2 reciprocals or no sale and they got it. The price depends on how many parks are in the system. Ask other members what they paid.

We got our RPI when we joined Thousand Trails. We bought a new Thousand Trails (nation wide) for $2995 so I think you can do better than $3000 for a RPI park membership. Tell them you want all parks and reciprocal agreement with other parks and offer them $2000. You may be able to get it for less than $2500. When we bought our Coast-to-Coast membership park, we only paid $1500 and they were asking $3000 also.

When we purchased our home park in 1979, C2C came as an add-on. The home park paid $1100 a year for all members to belong. Around 82" or so C2C started their Individual Membership Plan. Some I know paid between $500-1000 for C2C over their Home Park fee, set by HP Sales. Many Recip programs have come and gone over the years, Presidents Club ETC. Most were a gimic for the parks to pull in some extra bucks. C2C,(Part of Affinity Group/GS) and RPI (owned by 1000 Trails) have both had a GOOD product and Quality Management. We joined RPI 3 years ago, when C2C went to their NEW
Computer System and required the parks to adhere to it's use and NEW reservation program. The 5 parks that we used along I-5 and East to
Pheonix area ALL dropped C2C that year. Three of them stayed with RPI.
We find that the C2C Good Neighbor Parks allow us to ENJOY some real
nice parks, unavailable thru RPI, for $13 a Night. So we still use them both. I am dropping the RPI plus, because the bennies are not worth the extra $39 a year.
