Dave,
I think you mentioned that you were going to Town & Country in a few days. If they haven't sold, they have a Big Sky and a 3400 sitting side by side. We made some great comparisons when we visited a few weeks ago. Bill Tea also has a price list for both that has his base prices and the prices of the options. To answer a couple of your questions, you loose the cabinets over the dining table. The standard frige is 12 cubic feet, side by side. TV is a 32" flat screen. I didn't catch the brand.

Ye gads Dave..do you have any questions..The only way to find the real cost difference betwen the 3400 and the Big Sky would be to get a best deal price from your dealer. I think the MSVRP diff betwen the fully loaded 3400 and the Big Sky version is @ 20K. The artic package is the same. The flat screen TV was a view sonic ..the DVD a JVC,The bedroom Tv is not a flat screen. It looks like you break even on the storage space... Now...where are you guys???

The Big Sky was originally supposed to be $7,000 - $10,000 more than a loaded 3400RL. How did the Big Sky get to a price point of almost $30,000 more than a Montana??

The other dave..I have not seen the actual MSVRP of the fully loaded Big Sky yet nor am I up to date on the MSVRP of a fully loaded 3400 From what has been reported on this forum it would appear that the MSVRP of the Big Sky is in the 80's which I would agree is way to much.. I do believe that the Big Sky can be PURCHASED for 7 to 10K over the PURCHASE price of the fully loaded 3400 and that would be reasonable.

A fully loaded (with all options) Big Sky is 93,480 without tax and license. This includes the 3 mandatory packages, Big Sky Premium Package, Big Sky Value Packatge and the Comfort and Convenience Group. This price also includes dual pane windows, 18" metal slide tray, slide awning package, 2 leather recliners, garden tub ipo shower, extra desk chair, 2nd AC, extra fantastic vent fan, generator prep and generator, stacked washer/dryer. I do not know what the fully loaded price MSVRP price is on a 3400. I agree with Rich that the Big Sky can be had for 7 to 10K more than the 3400.

In doing some window shopping I have noticed that the $87,000 to $90,000 stickers are on the Big Sky's out west and down in the south. The transport cost to get a coach out here is in the $2,600 - $3,000 range, but again I am still trying to figure out why these dealerships figure folks are willing to pay $30,000 or more for a coach?? Looks like the mid west area is the place to purchase...

Town & Country, Clyde, Ohio, MSRP for Big Sky with all possible options is $74,560. The Montana 3400RL with all possible options is $63,878. These prices do not include taxes and are about one month old. If anyone wants a copy of the price sheets, PM me with your email address and I will scan them for you. I had a quote from another dealer in Akron, Ohio for $79,000 for his Big Sky lot model that had no options whatsoever. I guess it pays to shop around.

Our experience is the same as Karen's--our dealer here in Virginia sold us the Big Sky for $7,000 more than they quoted us for a 3400. If you add in the cost of options on the 3400 that are standard on the Big Sky, the price difference dropped to about $3,000-$4,000. Nonetheless, there do appear to be dealers who are looking for a premium price for the Big Sky--I suspect because they aren't feeling competitive pressure from other dealers in the area who can sell the Big Sky. I hope these price differences among dealers disappear as time passes so that people don't have to travel 500+ miles to get a Big Sky at a good price.

We (wife & I) also toured the BS plant a couple of weeks ago, & I MAYBE see a $7 - $10k premium over a Montana ($2k of that in high gloss alone), but certainly nothing over that. Geez, you think for that kinda money they would at LEAST put a switch inside to turn on the 120v side of the hot water heater! You STILL have to go outside, take the stupid cover off, & hit that little rocker switch (& hope you don't forget you did it).

Also, they still have the funky 'satellite prep' found in the Montana - a loop plug inside the ET center. No prep for roof sat, solar, etc. Its the little things that make a difference in quality & the thought put into engineering - the rest is just window dressing...
