norm,
Sorry to hear about your mishap, but what a great tip for the rest of the 3000RK owners. Hope your dealership will have your coach fixed up in no time.

Ouch, sorry that happened! We learn from others....maybe you just prevented it from happening to someone else! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune but it's really great of you to humble yourself and post about it. It is valuable information for many of us.

Man,, sorry to hear about that. Had a similar experience the first day in my 3650rk except on the dining room slide. It sure is a blood chilling sound

My Husband and I had the same type of thing happen to us with our 2006 3295RK. The cabinet door by the slide had opened and a can of veggies fell down by the side. I hear the noise and stop the slide in time to catch the cabinet door, but didn't look down to see the can. We were lucky it did little damage. Now we use a velco strap on the cabinet doors just incase.

I have the 330RKBS(travel trailer equivelant to your 5th wheel) and fear this every time I open the slide. I crawl over the counter and look back there just in case before I open the slide.
I sure hope you don't have much damage.

We, too, had the "something behind the slide trim" experience. It punched a half dollar sized hole in the interior wall. Grrrrr.

I had SOB and didn't realize the lower kitchen cabinet door was cracked open when I was opening the slide. Ripped that puppy right off it's hinges...LOL Luckily, it was an easy fix for me to do, but it sure freaks you out when you hear those sounds!!!

This can be a problem with any rig with slides. The counter cabinet door on the desk side of our 3400 likes to come open...we always check before opening/closing all slides. Don't ask how we found out it did that!

The door over our fridge is behind our slide when closed. We store all the dvd's in there. One time running the slide out we heard that awful crunching noise and immediately stopped and hit reverse. The door had popped open and had started having a go at the trim on the edge of the slide...Oops.
I was able to repair with no signs of trouble, but that door got a few added parts that trip out.
It is well hidden behind the slide and we can't see it until it's too late. I still cringe every time we open it.
Thanks for the painful reminder - think I may need to revisit this during my spring punch list.

Vicki uses long velcro straps around all handle pairs that would cause a problem should they come open. So far, so good. The straps are long enough that I cannot force the doors open.

We also use those velcro strips that look like tie wraps on all of the handle pairs. For the handles that do not have pairs we use the longer velcro strips and use the hinge on the cabinet door nearset it as a secure point. So far so good..
