We have a 2013 3582RL and tow it with a Chevy 3500HD, Duramax and Allison tranny. It is a short bed single rear not dually. I know there are those that say the dually pulls and rides better than the single but I prefer the single rear. We have a Reese slider in the bed and have only needed to use it two or three time. One time I should have but didn't and paid for it with a popped back window but that was my fault. Oh well, live and learn. Anyway come to the Fall Rally in Goshen in September and join us. Great group, great info and you even get to tour the plant where your Monte was built.

We pull our 2014 3582rl with a ram 3500 four door dually and have no problems handling the weight. I see lots of rigs going down the road pulled with 2500 pickups I prefer the dually.

Thanks all.
I hv a clearer picture now of the weight issue. I did read most of the threads in the tow vehicle section.

We hv a 2002 Montana 3255, bought in 2003. We hv been very satisfied with it, and hv towed it with a 2004 Chevy 2500hd, and now a 2012 Chevy 2500hd.

Delema now is wanting to upgrade to newer, larger Montana, (2012 3582). Current truck is paid for, and in great condition, but I get the fact that this newer model requires a bigger truck to be within limits.
But it looks like we would hv to go to a dually to be in limits with a margin.

And we are now retired, so spending to upgrade truck was not in "the plan".

Any and all thoughts will be appreciated.

Like you phxlab, we went through the 5th wheel and F150. Bigger 5th wheel and F250 gasser. Then bigger 5th wheel and a F350 diesel. And still bigger 5th wheel and a dually diesel. Coulda, Woulda, Shouda.

If you really want a bigger Montana, just bite the bullet and get the truck to pull it.

I know it sounds like I can't, or won't make a decision.But we will soon.
We have a deal with a used 3582 in good condition, and don't want to lose it if we can work it out.

We hv had our 2002 3522 trailer since 2003, so we don't upgrade many times.
So the upgrade to the 3582, which we really like, is a big deal for us.
the 2012 2500hHD is paid for, and in great shape, and I get the idea from this forum, that an upgrade to the 3500 is not that much of an upgrade for the money, if you already hv a 2500.
So, right now, I'm pricing a 3500 SW, and a dually.
We'll work it out, with all of your help.

Only you can make that decision. We decided to just do it! I'm 69 and figured we spend enough time in it we may as well be as comfortable as possible. Sure was not in the plan but bought a new F350 and a new Montana anyway. We were happy with what we had but ~~ figured we are older and deserve what we want at this stage.

Ok I know I am one that said you will be way over weight but there is another part to this. If you have found the perfect RV and don't buy it you will never like the one you had to settle for. Don't ask me how I know this :-(. Buy the one you love and deal with the truck a bit latter. If you have a good Diesel 2500 then it is worth a bunch. Maybe you can find a good used 3500 or 350 to buy and then sell your current truck. I would not trade your truck as they don't give you near as much as it is worth, better to sell it yourself.
