Keystone Dealer

GRRR - Dealer (name and location withheld for now) has been very unresponsive on a very short list of necessary repairs - is this typical of RV Dealers? If I ran my business like that way it'd kill it.

Is this typical?

You have to research carefully to find those good dealers. Some look only at getting the cheapest price which does not equate necessarily to a competent and responsive service provider. Many less than desirable dealers doing business out there.

Yes. My dealer has decent prices ONLY. His service sucks. I fixed the stuff myself. Was less than the fuel I would have used taking it to him.

Dealers span the full range from being very good to worse than very bad. Unfortunately it's sometimes hard to find out which you have until you purchase.

I left some nasty comments on a voice mail at my dealership a few weeks ago. I have a new 3731FL got it home from the dealers and I went to use the Lippert leveling system but the LED display would not work. Now you tell me 50 miles from the dealership and the display went out! and I problems with one of the slides that don't want to close. they had to know these where problems when I pick up the 5th wheel. I go back tomorrow to pick it so I can use it but I was told that the part for the slide ( a hydraulic Valve) will not be in for a couple more weeks. I have plans to go to coastal Georgia for the 4th, so I ask them when I come to pick it up tomorrow could they show me how to manually close the slide. Well I heard them talking and then the service guy came back on the phone and said that you can't manually close the slides, I think they are full of BS, so I've been searching the web to find out. Dealers are very helpful when it comes to selling but care less after the sell!

This sounds about right for a lot of RV dealers unfortunately. Go to rv service reviews and see how your dealer rates. My dealer Tonys RV in Salem Va fixes them before they are sold, so they get a very high review. Check yours out see how they do.

If they aren't listed maybe you should give them a review.

Oh yea! I started to but I'll wait until tomorrow. That is when I'll go and pick it back up from the dealership after the 1st service call.

Step by step instructions in the lippert operators manual that should have come with your unit, or go to lippert on line and step by step instructions there as well for manual operation of your slides.

I did fine the CD (op manual) in a drawer in the kitchen, but at the time I didn't know it was for the leveling system. But it still would not help because the LED screen was not functioning.

Unresponsive repair facilities

Best suggestion I have: find an RV repair facility that doesn't depend on sales to support their livelihood. If they depend on their reputation as a repair facility, and have good service writers, the picture changes somewhat. And, there are some who do warranty work.

If you are still having trouble with the LED screen on the level up display- reach in behind it and unplug it for 30 seconds or so- plug it back in and see if it resets itself.
Lippert tech told me if it resets fine and if it dosent the board is bad- of course mine was bad. ordered new one from lippert at a cost of just over $200 I think

The fact is that BUSINESS IS TOO GOOD! Today is week #5 that I have been waiting on a call that a new unit is in.. The sales manager told me it would be in next Thursday.... FIVE WEEKS ago. I was going to leave a deposit but he assured me I would have first chance. The sales manager at the other lot took my name and number on Monday [will be five weeks] and said he would check for ship date and call me. I hope they hurry and call so I can tell them I have a Montana sitting in my driveway. POS sales people... This was a Wildcat dealer. Used to sell only high end motor homes. I beg no one to take my money. rant over..
