Changing the ride

I never thought I would be posting this but here I am. At the end of March while we were in Texas for the winter we got hit by a near miss from a tornado. Hail the size of baseballs hit our park and not one home survived without damage. Our Park model got a lot of damage from the hail and the next morning I checked the Big Sky and was not too pleased to see all the damage. The skylight was broken, the awning ripped (rolled up) the gutters and evestroughs had holes, every vent on the roof was broke and all the fan vent covers were broke. The skirt and the door resembled a golf ball from hail. The GMC suffered the same damage to the roof, hood, front and rear panels and both pass. side doors. The roll-up tonneau was full of water and buckled from the weight of the ice. Needless to say the Monty was a write off and so was the truck. I am holding onto the truck though as I just put a new motor in it last summer. Still has a 3 yr. warranty on the motor. Looks do not matter in this regard.
To end this post Ann and I have purchased a Diesel pusher motorhome to travel with. Unfortunately it does not say Montana. So happy, safe travels everyone. Will miss a number of the old timers (like us) and we will be sorry to miss the Rallies in Goshen, In. and seeing old and meeting new friends.

The most important part of that story is that you guys were not hurt. Vehicles and RV's can be replaced, but family and friends cannot. I wish you best of luck and many happy miles ahead in your new coach and adventure! Travel safe travel well...

You were so lucky to be a live. We are sitting in Oak Plantation RV Park outside of Charleston, South Carolina right now. There are tornado watches all around us, praying it does not hit us in our Monty. Can't imagine being in this through a tornado. Enjoy your new rig and stay a way from tornados. Claudia

sorry that all that happened to your TV & Monty, I often wondered if an insurance company would take care of a claim from Hail, now I know, your did. I dont think State Farm my carrier would without a rider attached to the policy but I'm going to ask my agent if that happened to me would I be covered.
I hope you have many happy and safe miles in your new RV.

Steve & Betty, Carol and Al, & John and Marge: Rigs change..Friends stay the same. Our paths will cross again.

Don: Hail damage is covered under the comprehensive section on your policy. Deductible applies. With both the truck and trailer damaged only 1 deductible applied because it was the same storm that damaged them.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Hope everyone has a good summer and a safe drive wherever your travels take you.

I guess the best news is that you all survived to make your new decisions. While this is the Montana Owners Club forum, I've gotten the sense and have certainly also heard that all are welcome; SOB, MH, potential owner, whatever floats your Montana boat.

Stay in touch.
