Portable AC Units?

We have a 40.5 foot, 2016, 3950BR Montana with a 13K in bedroom and 15k in living room. We also have bunkhouse layout which I converted to office. Don’t have the budget to add 3rd rooftop AC. Have taken steps to insulate better, cover heater ducting, did PVC pipe mod to open ducts, cut every other blade in outlet, keep filters and internal ac unit fins clean, etc. We use Micro Air Easy Touch thermostats. Infrared temp shows 20 degree or little better differential from intake to outlet. Window unit not compatible.

Any experience with a decent portable AC unit where you vent hose through a window? FYI we would insulate the hose.

Dual hose may be better but inquiring about both. Any experience?

We are full time.

Maybe HVAC uses them whenever a customer’s AC goes out and it can’t be fixed quickly. So they must work.

I hooked up the Toshiba (lives in DW's she-shed) on our July 4 trip to San Antonio. Vented out the slide window next to the dinette. Ran a short piece of hose to a plastic bucket to collect condensate. Had to empty that bucket many times. We stayed very comfortable. I had a pic somewhere but can't find it now.

1st summer of the pandemic, when you couldn't get a replacement, the main AC went out on our Kansas rig. We used a portable and it worked fine, but as you have already figured out, it you don't insulate the hose you will lose much of what you gain.

Regarding Portable AC units
Get one with an inlet and exhaust duct that you can put in your window. The exhaust vent hose must be insulated. It gets really hot and will defeat the purpose of the AC. You can buy insulated ducts from any hardware store.
Also regarding the inlet duct. The unit uses room air to cool the condenser then vents this out the exhaust duct. This air has to come from from somewhere. It comes in from outside via cracks and gaps in your RV shell. This air is warm and humid. Again defeating the purpose of your AC. Having an inlet duct vent draws the outside air in, through the condenser and back out the exhaust vent. No added heat to your room. The interior room air passes over the cooling coils (evaporator) and back into your room to cool it.
Mine does not have an inlet duct so I made one to attach to the intake side of the heat exchanger (condenser). Both the inlet and exhaust ducts are mounted to the window. Inlet on bottom, exhaust on top (heat rises). Try to direct the exhaust away from the intake.
Excellent review of portable AC units
