Slightly long story, but . . I was wondering why the FM radio reception was so poor. It's got a good Samsung home theater box with a quite good tuner, so I started trying to find out if an antenna had been hooked to it. Lo and behold, there was a coax cable screwed into the FM antenna connection - but not hooked to the coax plate behind it (there was a jumper cable hooking one connector to another and I'm not ready to figure that one out) and was routed into the TV cavity. Raising the TV, I found this coax was just dangling underneath with nothing connected to it, although there was a set of sticky pieces of Velcro attached to the cable, but nothing else. Just putting my finger across the two coax conductors made the FM pop to life! Since I noticed an FM antenna in the pack of misc. stuff we got with the trailer, I hooked it up, ran it behind the TV mount and screwed the end into a handy piece of trim. FM works great now. I've had a couple Fleetwood products before so I'm not all that surprised, but not able to hook up the antenna that came with something is a bit original!

The FM reception is usually tied to the tv antenna with most of the older rigs (like our old 2007 3400), hence the coax. When hooked up properly, the antenna booster will enable good reception on the fm tuner. The jumper connection completed the internal circuit from the living room tv to the bedroom tv. Sounds complicated, but I think there are some informative diagrams on the home page, or a forum search of some of H. John Kohl's posts should bring them up.

OK, but if the TV is connected to another single coax outlet a couple feet away, why not connect a real antenna to the radio?

Wait a minute. The TV antenna is in the bedroom as is the amplifier. Our TV is at the rear wall. There must be a coax running to the rear wall and that double coax outlet with the jumper. That must go to the outlet a couple feet away that feeds the TV. Why didn't they just put anther drop for the home theater/radio and continue to the TV drop? Whatever - it works now.

I agree with your rationale, but I guess the designer's reasoning had something to do with the boost capabilities of the roof-top antenna and using it to increase the antenna range.

I think on our older rig, there was a coax splitter for the radio and the tv connections. I am thinking back a couple of years to recall this, so it may not be exactly correct. Here is a thread from John that may be of help:

The diagrams are interesting, but we have neither! From what I see on the 9/10 one, it looks like a splitter on the output side would feed both the home theater and TV - like I said earlier, the TV jack itself is only two feet away anyway. They could have just fed the TV without adding the jumper bit and separate wall plate from this one place. Too many years in comm, IT and networking - I keep looking for logic where probably there isn't any!

How intuitive (but then I'm from the era where computers were supposed to be so friendly!). But the image is on my personal PC and not on a web site, so this won't work either. Let's try this (I'm old enough to remember how, I think):
