09 3400RL - 'HTR' switch on monitor panel?

Hello, we are new to RV'ing and new to this forum.

We have been living in a 2008 3400RL for just a few short months. We have a switch on our water panel that is right next to the pump switch that says 'HTR' on it. We have an owners manual but it says nothing about this switch on the monitor panel.

Can anyone tell us what this switch is for?

Thanks!

Lance and Lynn

Hot water heater. If you use that it will run on propane or you can use the toggle switch at the heater for electric and save your propane.

It is for the water heater and it turns on the gas heater for the hot water tank.

Welcome to the Forum!
Many of us have added a timer to the water heater, if you are paying for electricity, it does save money.
Here is how I did mine, I had to rebuild the cabinet above the heater, it fell apart when loaded.

Also, while on that subject, we have had problems with the check valve. It gets clogged with trash left inside the fresh water tank, water heater and water lines at times.
Here is the info on the check valve:

It also took someone to point out the switch on the outside of the heater

They must have changed that on the 2010's because my panel has three switches, one for water pump, one for water heater elec and one for water heater gas.

You can run the water heater on electric or propane or both at the same time. The latter gets you a faster recovery time for that next person to take a shower. Or maybe if you're doing multiple washer loads with hot water.

They did, but the switch still exists on the outside of the water heater, setting up one more issue that can cause the heater not to work on electric.
