Battery leak stains

Has anyone else had this problem? This is the first time we've had the Monty parked on a pad for an extended period. The battery leaks fluid on to the cement out the overflow. It creates a stain. I filled the battery before we left home almost two months ago. I've checked the water and it seems to be at the proper level and I've cleaned everything up at least once since we've been parked here ( about two months). Is the battery overcharging or is this normal when parked and plugged in for a long time. Right now I have a plastic container with water in it to catch the overflow so it doesn't stain the cement anymore than it already has. So, anybody else experience this problem?

I do not think that is normal. I have not experienced it before. I am not sure what is causing it but it might be overcharging or overfilled.

My initial thoughts are whether or not you have a multiple stage charger? Newer models do. If not, sounds like overcharging and causing the overflow by boiling the electrolyte.

If your battery is in a proper container, you should not have any overboard discharge. Our batteries are in plastic boxes that catch any spillage. A further problem that arrises in my thinking is whats happening to the floor of the compartment? Our boxes are vented for caustic fumes but would catch any overflowing liquid. Larry

It should not be leaking; also the battery box should retain. Sometimes with age, a battery will start leaking around the posts, when charging. That or a hairline crack or a battery that stays in a charging stage because of bad plates are the only battery issues I can think of without addressing the charger mechanics

As mentioned you should have a battery box. If you do not they can be purchased in the after market. If the battery needs replaced use a AGM type battery and forget spills and corrosion.

My battery has a box. It has a drain hole at the bottom that pertrudes through the bottom of the floor of the Monty. I have a 2009 3400 with the battery in the front compartment. I guess I should call Keystone and see what they say.
