A Freestar bites the dust - on it's last journey
We have five Freestar made in China replacements for the original made in China Missions that came on the 2007 3400RL. While we were returning from the farewell trip in the 3400 we had the plasure of hearing that unforgettable "Boom" that many have experienced. We were blessed in that we were only going about 10 mph on the access ramp to the Industrial Parkway in Eastern Kentucky. When we had left on Friday, I had unexplainably grabbed the bottle jack and air compressor and placed them in the truck. Had no idea we would need them both, but also did not know the spare had about 25 psi in it. The tire change took about an hour and we limped on home without a spare. I managed to find a replacement Freestar on the internet since I wanted matching tires on the rig for the trade-in day. Best price I found was $87 plus shipping and the tire was put on the rig this morning before it's trip to the dealer. I e-mailed Tireco a couple of times with no response and do not really expect any assistance from them anyway. I am sure glad that we upgraded the tires on the new rig.

I just had to replace my back two Missions with Freestars because those are the only tires I could find NOW in NW. Colorado this week so I could get from there to Moab, Utah. I really think between the tires and the graphics that Keystone would step up and make all right with us. OH well, life is good!

We had our last blowout with a Freestar last April 2nd. I say "last" because Freestar or any Chinese tire will never grace our Montana again. Here is the result of that blowout. Or, I could just say $2100 plus tires.

Why does this continue? Somewhere, somehow there should be something that can be done about this. And just "WHY" I ask is Keystone and any other brand using these crap tires. I don't want to hear its cheaper. It wouldn't be cheaper if they were held liable for all this damage these things are making. The difference in price is so minor that you wouldn't even notice it in the final cost. Not to count the fact as to what a lawyer might do in this case. All that lawyer has to do is look at the MOC posts on these things and they got a list that goes on forever.
Whew, I feel better LOL

Nice article in the current Highways Mag. Their research shows a 32 percent failure rate in trailer tires compared to 18 percent for MotorHomes. Was based on 17,000 surveys from GoodSam members. Now if they could just get someone to listen....
