Sagging Slide

I recall someone posted on the forum a fix for a sagging slide. Does anyone know what that fix is and if possible please post some photos. I think angle iron was used somehow. The slight sag I am referring to is at the top of the big slide on the inside front about the middle. The sag is just enough for the rubber seal on the outside to not touch the top of the slide as it should when the slide is extended. JB

Almost there myself. Seal is barely touching in the middle.

I don't think it was angle iron, just a steel plate installed behind the wood facade that runs the length of the slide to give it strength. I assume you install the plate after jacking the sag out of the middle, then it shouldn't relax.

Not sure who, but I remember some have done it.

Brad is right, I had our's done under warr. 2 yr's. ago,"no more sag" They removed the face and backer boards, add a steel plate to the backer, jacked up the middel and reinstalled the backer and face boards, still looks good, and good seal contact.
hope this helps. Frank

Frank, In your signature block you list your truck as an 06 F350 6X6. What does the 6X6 mean, in the military a 6X6 was an all wheel drive tandum axel truck. As to what 4X4 means it's a 4wheel drive. Jim PS. Sorry to get Off Topic.

Frank, does the flat steel run the entire length of the slide? I would guess that the steel is about 1/8" or 3/16" and the width would be what the height of the space on the back side of the face would allow. I may tear into it when time allows and will take some photos of the fix for future reference.

We had that done at the service center under warranty in April of 07 as described above. It was a good fix. We did not watch them do it. When we ran a level across the wood facade at the top of the long slide there was a sag in the middle. It is now center bubble and has been so since the fix.

Jolu: I think they used 16ga. flat metal screewed to backer board ( I think it was 10' long )it was done 2 years ago and still no sag
Jim: no, LOL, it's a short bed dually (6 wheels) when you flip the switch all 6 wheels pull(it says 4x4)
