What First?
The deal is final and we will be picking up our new Monty this weekend. What are the first things we should add or provision? We have the basics like sewer hose and water hoses - what have you all added as "must haves" or "can't live without"?

I agree, surge protection. I would pick up a Rand RV GPS and Trucker's Atlas. While at the dealer's lot after hooking up, I would have them pull a 10' step ladder out and help you measure your exact height. Enter that in your new GPS.

Stay on the dealer site for a couple of nights and do not pull out until satisfied everything works properly.

First hook up and measure your height is a must for us, then surge protection, water pressure regulator and an 8 inch by 8' long storage tube mounted just behind the front landing gear to store the sewer hoses.

If you haven't pulled off the lot yet make sure you have some tires other than the OEMs. You haven't said what model you are getting but the OEM tires are just at the rating for tires BUT if you add anything to the unit they will not be adequate. Most of us have put on Goodyear G614s on! Next to that the surge protector, whether it be built in or a portable one is a must also.

I agree, the tires and the EMS are must haves. A tire monitoring system is also a good idea for peace of mind. I use the TST 507 with flow thru sensors. After that it kind of depends on what kind of camping you're going to do. If your going to boondock then at least a second battery and a generator will be in store. Since Monty's are tall you might also consider an RV GPS that takes into account the size of your rig when deciding on routes to take.

Thank you Rondo for the great advice. It is a 3900FB and I am trying to work out an upgrade with the dealer. And I did ask specifically for G614s. I will let you know how it goes.

If you are going to be were it rains a lot in the Winter's, get a dehumidifier. We have run one since 07 in our 3485 SA and it has keep the moisture down and haven't seen any fungus our mildew anywhere. A must have in wet conditions.

Any preferences on tire chocks? I have BAL X Chocks from my current TT - however they are the extended size since the wheels are further apart.

If you have the level up system, between the tire chocks are not recommended. Since we do, I use cheap, heavy rubber chocks from Harbor Freight.

Thanks Bingo. I do have the hydraulic leveling system. Does that mean that even those one step chocks between the wheels will not work as well? I am still a weight conscious guy and the rubber chocks are heavy.
