Alt Trailer Height button on RAM 3500 truck

Has anybody used this Alt Trailer Height button on the dash to lower their RAM 3500 dually truck to get a more level ride with the 5th wheel hooked up? Just wondering if it does lower the truck an inch or more? I tried doing it without my 5th wheel hooked up, and it says load too light to do this function? So I will have to wait until the next time I have my 5th wheel out of storage to see how much it actually lowers the truck?

Agree on the two inches. My 2500 does it empty. Use all the time when dropping my flat bed.

I haven't pushed any buttons, but my Ram levels itself when I hook up to my fifth wheel. I hear the compressor kick on and it raises just a little bit.

Did not know it would level itself! Wow! nice feature . Did it come from factory with that? I have a 2012 F350 so I am still in the Dark Ages "truck-wise".

Some aftermarket systems can be set up to auto level if you have an on board compressor.

Ditto on ours doing it after the 5r is hooked up. No input from me.

Yes it has factory rear air bags.

Funny thing is I wouldn't have ordered it out that way but I bought it off the lot and it had them. Now that I have them I really like them.

The Ram factory air level replaces one leaf spring so it also helps it ride a little better. Still has 5400 pound payload.

Good info, thanks. I have aftermarket on-board air compressor and can raise/lower, but I have to eyeball it to see if it's where I want it and have no way to know if it is truly level. Dodge is moving on up, getting a little more share of the market in our category.

Yes on the 3500 the leveling feature is automatic. There are still leaf springs, so when weight is added and springs compressed the air bags fill and level. On the 2500 the leaf springs are removed and there is a complete air suspension. So the switch will raise and lower truck to different levels.
