Found these lifts while visiting my son in Minn. If you have a Fleet Farm Store they have a nice assortment. I replaced the cheap plastic basement clips on my 5vr with some stainless steel ones I found at a local rv dealer. They look better and are not prone to breakage. Will be doing some measurements to install gas lifts on my front storage compartments, this one is the real pain to put up and down.

I HAVE PUT THE GAS STRUTS ON MY 04.. THEY WORK GREAT. I GOT THEM AT CW. I THINK THEY COST AROUND 35.00 FOR A PAIR. I HAD TO PUT A PIECE OF SHEET METAL 6"X6" ON THE DOOR TO FASTEN TO. IT TOOK LESS THAN A HOUR TO DONE BOTH BASEMENT DOOR.

They are also available at NAPA. You can see them on line
"Lift Supports - Universal Gas Charged" or better still go to your local NAPA store and look at the Ballkamp book to find all the lengths and end styles.

We have been astonished at the number of helpful replies since posting this query re struts for storage area doors. Being located in Nova Scotia, we don't have any of the retail outlets referred to so will have to shop online, or wait until we take Miss Montana and head out for our first trip to the US later this year. Tks so much and we'll be watching for MOC members on the highways in the Maritimes this summer!
