Gas Price Info
If you're traveling,check out CNN money.A report on TV says there were stations in Atlanta,Ga charging well over $5 a gallon.Maybe you can plan what states to advoid.

We hope that cituation soon stops. By mid-month we will be heading for Florida from Indiana and our route takes us right thru Atlanta. It's impossible to get to Florida without passing thru Georgia. The only other way is to come thru frm Alabama and we all know that's not gonna happen. AND we have no idea as yet as to the fuel situation in Florida. Will have to check it out as we get closer to leaving.

Just saw on the news there's a Shell station in Virginia that's asking $5.99 a gallon. Now this has to be price gouging. We are still thinking over our plans for next week.

I like Caracas, Venezuela's price per gal on your website, camper! ($0.12/gal). That would have cost me $1.88 to fill up last night instead of $47.00 (15.67 gals @ $2.99. Would have been $53.17 @ $3.39 if I hadn't checked the above website before I left home).
Wonder if Chavez is going to sell anything to us at that price???? He already said he was going to donate some heating oil and gasoline to the poor areas of the US. He also mentioned something about possibly helping out in a simililar fashion in the hurricane ravaged areas. We'll see how bad he wants to make amends with the US. Just hope Pat Robertson doesn't have him "taken out" before I get a chance at some of this gas!

Here's the thing that bugs me. If a gas station has 10,000 gallons in the ground in their tanks. You know they payed price x/gal on delivery. Suddenly the price at the pump has increased while they are still supplying gas from delivery x. Then the truck arrives with fuel priced at y/gal. Its no wonder the oil companies are posting record profits.
I hope we see the price drop as quickly it has risen once production returns at these refineries.
Here is a report from a senator out of nevada published in May 04. Look at some of the numbers in the report. Kind of makes you sick to your stomach looking at the prices today.

It seems to me, ever since the exxon / mobil merger the prices have escalated. Less competition in the market. Time to build more refineries. That is the problem. Its not raw crude. There is just no way to process the crude.
The direct impact on utilities, electric cost will rise, groceries will rise, anything that is trucked, shipped, rail, air travel will all cost more. RVing will become more expensive not just the fuel costs. Campgrounds will raise their rates because of all the above costs to them are passed on to us.
The price of cord wood has risen, even natural gas has risen. I can't figure that one out.
But in the end it is the consumer who ends up footing the bill.

Our daughter lives in the country and has a 500 gal LP tank. Yesterday it cost her $1010. to fill it up for winter. Ouch. This is Wis. for you.. second higest state for taxes.

Our daughter lives in Gulfport Florida. She emailed me a couple of days ago and said their local stations were out of gas. However, I wonder if they weren't saving it for this weekend. According to an article I read there have been thousands and thousands reports of price gouging. The state legislators are getting involved so maybe that will help.

Our daughter in Merritt Is,Fl lets us know about gas prices there.Yesterday it was $3.19 a gallon for regular.Georgia & Ohio had huge price jumps Tuesday.
The trucks are gonna need a whole lot of fuel to haul what it takes to rebuild a city & transportation system, so that alone will keep prices high.By rights, the haulers should have 1st dibs on fuel.What will they do if the truckers can't make a profit?Lots to think about.

I was wondering about propane. We use it to heat in the winter. We I talked to our dealer the other day about "locking" into a price this year like we have in previous years they said they arn't going to do it. It's $1.99 a whatever they measure it in now. Will only go up. Chuck and I are going to be doing a lot of cuddling to keep warm  . This retirement is great, but fixed income sucks.
Might just have to go back to work to pay for fuel.

Thanks, syplace for your info. I'll sure you're daughter already had some in her tank, so that was LESS than 500 gals for $1,010!
GA suspended their state tax on gasoline/diesel. Not any other states followed suit, apparently, as far as I know.

Had to refill a propane tank for the camper and it has not yet increased in price..We have been advised however to expect to see a 25% increase in our natural gas prices this winter..This is Columbia Gas of Ohio...I am on a two year contract and my price cannot be increased till the end of the contract..wonder how they will get around that...

We are seriously thinking of heading up to Montana, Idaho and maybe a little of Canada this next week. Anyone been there recently to give us an idea of availability of diesel and/or cost? We will leave Colorado and go through Wyoming up to Glacier, Canada then down through Utah and end up in Arizona. Thanks

Canada seems to be OK as far as availability is concerned, mark you we are paying approx $1.30 Cdn. a litre!!! some stations in Ontario have been almost $2.00 a litre, real gouging.
