50A Inlet Connector

Our 5er has the Marinco 50A inlet connector. I wanted to rotate it so the dogbone extension I got for it will hang straight down instead of at a 90 angle. But when I looked at it, it appears that the little nubs that the power cable align with are built into the sides of the housing so rotating it would require having the hinged top off to the side as well.

Is there another brand that is arranged so the dogbone could hang straight down?

I'm thinking about just replacing the inlet anyway because when I got the 5er I saw that one of the prongs inside is burnt/scorched looking and the surrounding plastic is pulled away from the prong a little bit.

Thanks.

You might want to look a little more closely. The housing, with the outside door, is a separate piece from the socket assembly, at least on the ones I have worked on. There should be a screw holding the socket into the housing. Unbolt the housing, find the screw and remove it, rotate the socket, and re-install the assembly. There are many, many of us here that have done this mod.

Thanks, I was hoped that was the case. I was looking for a diagram on the inlet on Marinco's site but couldn't find anything. I'll unscrew it and rotate it next weekend.
