Generator For 09 3400RL

Our 09 3400RL 10th Anniversary was wired at the factory for a permanent generator. (Controls are in the main bedroom closet).
What types and sizes are recommended to tie into this wiring; who has one, what capacity/size, is it noisy and do you like the unit? What is the dollar range to buy and install? Thanks for any feedback on this. Ellis

On our 2008 3400RL I had the Onan 5500 installed. You will loose more than half of your front compartment space. If I remember correctly, generator and installation was close to $5000. Living in hurricane territory I bought it as more of an insurance policy. Looking backward, I think I would have gone with a couple of 2000 or 3000 Honda generators, especially since I had the Rol-n-Lock toneau cover and could keep items hidden. There were times I wish I had had that extra space in the front compartment. Also, in retrospect, I used the generator once when we lost power for 1 hour in Mississippi. We could have survived without it.

The noise is right under your bedroom, but I did not find it offensive. It sort of sounded like an air conditioner running, and if you were running a front air conditioner you may not hear the Onan 5500 running. It is fairly quiet, considering it is a generator.
