No more blowouts
Rosetta and I got home today around 4pm without incident. Will be calling TireCo to return the Mission that blew out, the one with the bubble and the other two distressed tires. The Firestone replacement tires got us to all our destinations and home with no problems.

Way to go!! Shame most have had to learn the hard way that those Mission tires are a POS. Also interesting to note that our newest Monty has Goodyears albeit Chinese made Goodyears. Hopefully Goodyear's quality control in China is better than their dairy inspectors poisoning Asia with tainted milk and chocolate.

George,
Glad you and Rosetta got home safely. We just got in from Ohio. Stopped over to our son's home for 5 days. We are exhausted! It was great to meet you both. Be safe and hope to see you both in the future. Dennis

Glad to see you made it home without any further tire problems.
Last year, in 2 seperate incidents, I had to replace 4 of the Missions but even with different tires this year I still had that uneasy feeling of another tire failure situation occurring.
With all my years in the tire business there was only one time that I can recall so many tire failures from one manufacturer and that was in the 70's and the Firestone 500 belted tires and those were American made.
Years ago Firestone was also blamed for the tire failures and accidents with the Ford Explorer BUT in actuality it was Ford Motor Company that caused that situation by under inflating for a smoother ride.
It's getting to the point that you don't know who to trust. Chinese? Made in the USA? Or is it just "MAN" Made and forget where?? Quality Control needs to be beefed up and the Federal safety requirements for tires more strongly enforced.

Glad to have met all of you at the rally. It was a pleasure. We are sure that we will cross paths somewhere sometime in our travels. Tireco will have the tires picked up in about three business days. To add to our list of things to do before the next outing I ordered a Blue Ox bed saver today from Blue Ox Towers.com for $168.85 plus shipping. The best price I could find.

I'm glad you made it safely. We had two Missions replace by Tireco and now I need to call them again to replace the others. I hope you have no problem getting reimbursement for your new tires. Which Firestone tires did you get?

What is going on with the Mission tires? We have about 5000 miles on our 2007 3500RL. What should I be looking for? Butch

New tires.
When I had my 3400RL I had less than 1000 miles on the missions and took it upon myself to change all 5 out to the correct spelling, Michelin.
The missions have been problematic from the beginning. There are few exceptions but there are exceptions, of members running Mission tires for thousands of miles before a problem, or still no problem. You just don't know with the Missions.

Butch&Carol,
It depends on the luck of your draw with the Mission tires.
I got over 18,000 miles on my Missions without any incidents before replacing them. Just keep an eye on them for any abnormalities.

Just had our first problem with the Mission Tires on our late 2006 3400RL with about 8000 miles on it. Preparing for our trip to AZ for the winter, I adjusted the brakes and discovered one Mission tire that had an uneven wear pattern with excessive wear on the outside edge. Took the tire to three different tire shops and all gave a high confidence that we were having a severe, ply/tread separation issue. Have installed the spare. Called Tireco and they will be sending me 5 new replacement tires once we arrive in AZ. Hope the Missions last another 1600 miles.

Most, if not all, Mission tire problems have been PLY seperation.
Look for any unusual crowning in the tread area. This would be tread seperation. Also look for any boil like spots on the sidewalls both inside and out.
BTW-I had all 4 of my Missions fail due to tread and/or sidewall seperation within 3 weeks of each other.

Over 12K miles on the missions with out a problem or unusual wear.We did change them out but would have done the same with any brand OEM tire.
