Lighting the oven
On my 3400RL you need to turn the oven knob to pilot and then look in the bottom of the oven and use a lighter to get the pilot lit. How do you do this without being a contortionist. Surely there is an easier way?

This topic has been discussed before. Here is one conversation thread
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39175&SearchTerms=oven,lighting
with what others do (or don't do).
This
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30439&SearchTerms=oven,lighting
is another discussion where a member talked about his addition of a piezoelectric lighter from a barbecue.
Hopefully these will be of value to you.

I have a mini torch and open the oven light the torch hold it in the left hand then with the right hand I push the knob in and then hold the torch at the thermal coupler intill I see a piolet light, light. the mini torch is the cramp saver while trying to light the beast.

Try being 6' and 280 lbs. Now Louise has figured it out so it is now an oven and not a storage compartment. LOL

I lit pilots for 34 years, so it just comes natural.

I do exactly the same, and hold the pilot knob in for a few seconds first.

What I used to do (SOB NOW) is use the Lighter Torch and hold it under the pilot for about 20 seconds or so, then DW would turn the knob to pilot and push it in. Holding the flame under the pilot sort of pre-heats it and you can remove the torch and release the knob and have the pilot remain lit.
Oh! I was the one laying on the floor. The smart was was standing up pushing the knob.

Lighting the oven has always been a "sore" topic here at the MOC with discussion on it going back to 2003 I think. If there was a way to raise it up and make it a "wall oven" I'd be one happy camper. I like to bake but there are times I just don't want to get down on the floor and try to get the darn thing lit.
Keystone, you listened to us when we asked about about making the control panels accessible when the slides are in, giving us a bedroom suite without different floor levels, getting us models with private full bathrooms with space around the commode and even the side-aisle floor plans... Can you give us an oven that we don't have to get down on the floor to light?

I can't see why a piezoelectric or battery powered spark ignition wouldn't work. Holding in the button in the pilot position ensures a flow of gas until the thermal safety opens with the heat. I suppose it is a safety issue because the pilot is not readily seen except when bent down looking in the stove. This could be solved by putting an enlarged hole covered with a concave pyro-glass site though the burner cover directly over the pilot. A lit pilot would then show as a bright blue light easily seen from above.

anti-gravitational boots would help also. Until they come along, it's just stab in the dark and hope for the light!

My DW knows 'just about' where to hold the butane match and swears that she can hear the flame catch.
I have to be VERY careful what I say under my breath, don't I?
