CRACKED WHEEL

We just had new 4 new tires mounted and balanced and new metal valve stems installed on Wednesday, so yesterday I decided to check the tire pressure to ensure there were no leaks. When I got to the first tire, I noticed what looked like a scratch on the spoke of one of the wheels. Upon closer inspection I could tell that it was in fact a crack and I could feel that it went all the way to the backside of the wheel. Although the crack isn't as bad as the one H. John Kohl reported earlier this year, it is a crack none the less. The wheels have 15,513 miles on them and our rig was built in March of 09. I have sent an e-mail to Tredit with photos and will be calling them tomorrow for a remedy. I did not notice any cracks on any of the other 3 wheels, but I am hoping Tredit will replace all 4 with new ones. Will keep you all posted on the outcome.
Jack

In the summer of 2009 we had s similar problem. Discovered two spokes were cracked on the same wheel. After contacting Tredit, they told me that that style wheel was no longer available and they would replace all 4 wheels. They also paid for the wheels swapped out and be returned to them. Seemed to really want them back. We also had just replaced our tires. Hope this was just a coincidence.

A couple weeks ago I sent Tredit photos of my alumimum wheels that are badly corroeded and look really bad. My Montana is two years old. They responded with "The wheels are out of warranty and you are on your own" Tredit supplies junk Chinese wheels and tires at Keystones request. I hope they treat you better and replace your wheels. I plan to replace my wheels and tires this coming spring.

After reading Bruce's reply I did some more checking and found this warranty statement from Tredit's website: "Wheels are subject to manufacturer's warranty, most wheel manufacturers offer one year, from date of purchase, for cosmetic issues and a lifetime warranty for structural issues. If you have questions regarding the warranty of your wheel or would like to request warranty brochures, please contact Tredit Tire Warranty Department at (866) 443-9907 or Warranty@TreditTire.com.". Sounds like I should be covered.
Jack

It seems that the Keystone Montana is a quality product, but we keep seeing these issues of Keystone installing junk from some suppliers...not sure what to make of that.

Thanks Jack for the alert. We've had our wheels off and on many times over the summer for suspension upgrades and they looked okay; but we'll have to do that visual inspection of every spoke on every wheel. Aluminium wheels usally have a good trail record; it was the steel ones that cracked around bolt holes.
