2 Questions ? ?

We picked up new 2011 Montana 3400RL 2 weeks ago. We left immediately on a months trip. We absolutely love it! After 2 weeks of getting used to all the features, we have 2 questions.

1. Has anyone come up with an idea on how to cover the controls for the slides;fan;lights etc. etc. that is on the wall by the steps going upstairs? We have inadvertanly turned some of them on by mistake, and we have wondered if there is some way to avoid this.

2. Has anyone installed a light in the front closet? We find this closet to be a wonderful place for all kinds of things, but a light in there, would be a great asset. I am talking about the closet, just inside the front door. Is this something that could be done without too much trouble?

We find this forum outstanding, and sincerely appreciate all the knowledge that we have gained by being part of it. Thank you all!

Regarding your second question. We bought a couple of LED tap on lights and stuck them on the door. When we open the door and tap them the light works just fine. Where you place them does make a difference regarding how well areas are illuminated.

Not only works well but no labor involved.

Hard wired lights in the closet shouldn't be a difficult add on since there is power next to it for the TV and the TV amplifier, so you would have your choice of 12 volts DC or 120 AC. It depends on how 'electrically inclined' you are. As for the covers for the controls, I'm not aware of any that are made specifically for these, but you might check out Lowes / Home Depot for thermostat covers like businesses use to keep people from changing the temps. Again, if you're mechanically inclined, it wouldn't be too hard to make one using wood and clear plastic.

BTW: Welcome to MOC, eh?

The only switch I worry about pushing is for the slides. In our 03 3295RK I added a light switch cover at the slide switch that was almost flush and had a spring hinge. You can find them at Lowes or any hardware. I thought it looked better than the clear plastic covers that protrude several inch's.
