Hydraulics Again Update

Well I took the Montana into the dealer a few weeks ago and they contacted Lippert. They told them to do a test it showed no problem then they told to do a different test again no problem this has been going on for a couple of weeks being told to do different tests. So yesterday the did the last test no problem. I phoned this morning to arrange to pick the trailer up this afternoon and the Service Manager told me he would see if it was in a place I could hook up to it or the would move it out for me, I got a call a 1/2 hr. later and was told the bedroom slide was out at least 2" and he was on the phone to Lippert again. He is trying to get 2 new cylinders and a pump assembly.
I will update later we I get more info. Very frustrating to say the least.

Don,
I agree, it's frustrating but look on the bright side, you have a dealer that is working for you and trying to solve your problem. It may be getting frustrating for them also

Sorry it's so frustrating, but at least it happened while your Monty was still at the dealership - rather than you back out on the road.

Ray is having waaaaay tooooo much fun. He now has approx. 200 lbs. of rock in the bed of the truck.

He might have to make 2 trips to get everything home. I have the Montana home as we are using it this weekend and then back to the shop.

Don,
I've got ours back at the dealer again (round three) because the slides keep creeping out and fluid bleeds back into the reservoir after they are closed. They mentioned replacing the pump head to rectify the problem. I hope they get it fixed this time....you're right though, it is frustrating I'll keep you posted on what they find, do and if it gets fixed.
Jack

More than likely you have a blown piston seal in one of your cylinders. This will allow a cylinder rod to extend. They can not retract under the same condition as the oil displaced from the butt end is a greater volumn than the rod end can hold. (because the rod takes up some space) If the oil is in fact being leaked back to the reservoir it would have to be leaking past the directional control valve and that would be the second potential culprit. It is highly unlikely that the pump has anything to do with the issue because the cylinders are powered in both directions from oil pressure and the direction of this pressure and flow is determined by your control valves. Hope I didn't confuse the issue for you, just trying to help. Walt

Don- Which slide is it? My bedroom slide creaps out a little and it closes easily but it only does this in the spring here. It seems like it is when the hydraulic fluid is cold and then starts to warm up. During the summer it doesn't happen for me! Got me sumped too!

When traveling to Quartzite both slides came out and I used the valves to hold them in. The big slide still crept out so I bought a slide lock to keep it in. When I got home they could not find the problem following Lipperts test procedure so I went to pick it up and when they went to pull it out for me the bedroom slide was out. The pump assembly has to be changed out as a unit as it is all in one unsurvivable housing you cannot get at any of the valves in it. This the second time around for our Montana hydraulic problems.
