Almost an ooops!
On the last trip, I almost pulled one like the video going around of the guy knocking down the bank drive thru. We stopped an a Sonic in Childress for lunch on the first day. The layout had a large parking lot behind the Sonic and allowed me to pull in directly from behind. So I pulled the nose of the truck just under the edge of the awing at the rear pull-up and it allowed the Monty to be back out of everyone's way. I got out, went to the speaker, ordered our lunch, we ate, and then we got ready to leave. I looked up and saw that I could just drive directly out the front of the place. I put it in drive, hit the throttle, truck started moving, then I slamed on the brakes. DW didn't know what was happening. Fortunately, I remembered just in time that the Monty was much taller than the awning I was about to go under. I didn't get out and look, but I couldn't have been more than a foot or so from hitting it. I backed it back out, and went around the back side where I had come in.
One careless moment could have ruined our trip. Hopefully I won't have too many more of those.

Bill and Patricia,
I've had too many of the "near" OOPS to even count! Glad you made the connection in time. But you deprived the INTERNET of another great video.

Bill,
Good for you that you remembered. Seeing those types of videos is not pleasing to the 5er crowd. Well, at least not to me.
It could have been me.

They are everywhere, trees, low overheads, all kinds of traps. One could get paranoid about it. Real glad you missed the snare.

When something like that does happen it happens so fast I think you rarely have time to react. Good job preventing that oops!
