Upgrade Suspension??
Curious who has upgraded their trailer suspension to a Moryde, Equa-Flex or Dexter EZ-Flex? Have 2003 Big Sky and looking at installing the LCI Equa-Flex (on a budget) system along with their Never-Fail bushings. What are your thoughts?

I put the Equaflex on my 2980 a few years back ... pretty straight forward install if you have access to a couple of jacks and some cribbing. Here's the link to my old post. http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...erms=,Equaflex

Since you said "budget" I guess that means the MorRyde IS is out of the question, but it's probably the best suspension upgrade you could do.

We have had 3 montanas, and have used heavily, to include almost six years of fulltiming. Never made any modifications to the frame or suspension. Only the 2010 has the MorRyde. It is nice and makes a difference. No problems with any of the units.

Tom, I have always had the Equa-Flex equalizers on our unit. Had them installed shortly after we bought the unit. I may have told this story before but, here it is, again. In 2009 when, we took our short trip from Elkhart up thru to Mackinaw City, MI, we had a partial roll of of toilet paper setting on the holder in the water closet. After several hours of travel, we had to make a pit stop. That was when I discovered the roll was still setting on the holder. Of course, the unit is also equipped with the TrailAir LO5 air ride pin box. So, something good is happening. Would also like to add that we have never entered the unit after traveling and found cupboard or cabinet drawers or doors popped open and things laying on the floor.
Our unit was originally equipped with ALKO-Kolber 6000 lb axles. Last fall, I noticed when I climbed under the unit to open the low point drains to winterize that one of the 3000 lb rated China made spring packs had completely collapsed. Now, every one needs to be aware that there are two sizes of the TrailAir Equa-Flex equalizers based on what size axles and springs are on your unit.
I recently brought the unit home from having all 4 spring packs changed from 3000lb packs to 3500 lb packs. In-other-words, I installed spring packs made for 7000 lb axles on the 6000 lb axles. I also, took this opportunity to convert to the wet kit. Since I changed to the heavier springs, I had to change the Equa-Flex to the bigger ones because the heavier springs raised the unit about 2" higher.
I have stated numerous times that I will never have a new unit without the TrailAir pin box and Equa-Flex installed before I take delivery. For me, it has been worth every penny spent. I don't care if it is installed at the factory or the dealership. It WILL be part of the negotiation process. If the manufacturer or dealer balks, I move on until I get what we need!

We upgraded to the MOR/ryde Individual Suspension in September 2003 and have not been sorry. I believe the savings realized in maintaining the structural soundness of the chassis by the IS was well worth the money.

Orv, I did not mean to imply that TrailAir was the best made. It is the only one I have had any experience with. I am sure that all of the different manufacturers products work well and accomplish the same thing. If a new unit I was looking at and ready to buy had the IS equalizers on it, I would accept that. I just want the air ride pin box. Especially something like the TrailAir Tri-Glide.
I agree 100% about what you say these systems do to help structrual soundness. That is 50% of the reason why I want these products. The other half is because of ride improvement.

As stated the Mr Ryde Is is the ultimate suspension upgrade but not cheap. We have it on this 06 3400 and it is a BIG difference. We wil give the 12 Big sky the benifit of the doubt but my guess is we will have another IS system installed.
