Ladder and sewer hose tubes

Like many of you I added two tubes to the back of my 2009 Montana 3400. The front one holds a 7' fold-up ladder and the back one 20' of sewer hose. I love having them safe and separate from the other things in the storage area.

I have one in front and one in the rear. If anyone else is thinking of doing this, look up the web site for the Dale Company. That is where I got the u bolts.

I would have liked to put mine under the back, but I could not get in the driveway with anything back there. Even had to carry the spare in the truck.

My 6" tubes are same place as yours Mel. The u-bolts are made out of 1/4" all thread and bolted to the frame after shaping the all thread to the tubes. Cheap and easy.

Yes I used 6" tubes. 5" would have worked, but I could not find any 5" tubes as heavy duty as I wanted. Also have the right size U=bolts is critical.

I like this idea but was wondering how you prevent anyone from openning the tubes and swiping your hoses or ladders in them? Seems like they are rather unsecure!

We use a 6" PVC fence post to carry an extra 10' and a 5' hose.
Never had anyone take my sewer hose in 40 years of camping with a un locked hose compartment.

For future reference, about the only place you'll find heavy 5" pvc pipe is a well driller. Finding the end caps are even harder. Mine are cast iron. Ours is mounted near the rear of the unit and I was concerned about 6" dragging on a steep driveway. An inch can make a difference!
