Worn out graphics on 2004

Been a while since I have been on the forum. The graphics are all dryed up and peeling on my 2004 Montana. I remember a company in Kenosha Wi
that will sell you replacement graphics but I can't find any of the old forum notes. Can anybody help out here? I have to replace about 80% of the graphics and looking for ideas for getting the old ones off and preparing the surface for the new ones?

Burlington Graphics Website: http://burlingtongraphics.com/parts.html has the older model Montana graphics. I removed our peeling ones with a hair dryer (some have used a heat gun), wear gloves, the graphics get hot! and remove the glue residue with Goo Gone. It is a good idea to mark the location of the graphics with a pencil or similar to help with lining up the replacements when you get them. Be careful to not wipe off the marks when you remove the glue residue. On ours I marked the graphics, then discovered it was not necessary since the location of the graphics was obvious when removed. it was the only part of hte rig that looked shiny and new!!

This is my latest bright idea on replacing my now deteriorating graphics on my 06 3400. They have held up well for 5 years and just in the last few months have started to go bad.. I am thinking of getting a set on 2011 3400 graphics as they should be easier to get and they look better than the 06 graphics and have a local Graphic shop remove the old ones and put on the new one. If they last another 5 years that will be plenty. we are working on that idea.

Rich that may work well and look good also but watch for a possible ghost image of the old graphics. I had really noticeable ones on our2001 after we removed them. Yours may not be noticeable but that would be something to watch out for if I was going to do that.

I remember some time ago someone posted (on open roads forum I think) about using a wall paper steamer to remove the graphics. Pictures posted seemed to show them just peeling off with the steamer. May be able to rent such a steamer at Home Depot or such.
Or you could buy one for $50 like this one at Home Depot.

the graphic shop owned by a friend of ours said that they remove graphics all the time , Mostly on boats, and the ghost problem is not a issue. Also by proper placement of the new graphics any ghost image that can be seen can be covered over... We are still in the "thought" stage.

Keep us posted and if you do that we will certainly want to see some photos of the final results.

Welcome to the Stick and Peel club. you have the same year as I and that was a bad year for graffics and most other years for keystone graffics.

Rich:
From 2 different RV experiences, there will be "ghost" images from the old graphics ... no ifs, ands, or buts. On the front cap, the surface under the old graphics will look as shiney and new as the day you bought it. You can't buff to match... it's like the adhesive etches the image onto the RV. Once you do buff with say a medium compound, you have to keep buffing about every 2 months as the filon sides turn chalky quicker. If the new graphics can cover the old decal placement ... so be it. If the graphic shop you mentioned has some special something to eliminate the ghost image of what came off, please post it!

Even being replaced at Keystone Service Center we have the ghost images, but it looks alot better than our old graphics did.

They did not say they could eliminate the ghost but from looking at the pictures of the new 3400 graphics and my 06 3400 in was of the opinion that by skillfull placement and perhaps adding a graphic or two the ghost image would be eliminated or greatly reduced.
