Shower ?

OK I know every one has this problem but It has finally gotten to me. Do I remember rite did some one on here come up with away to stop the water from getting cold when you cut it off for a short time. I saw a set of ck valves on here will they work. also read where someone took out the ck valve on the water heater and made it better. If we can put a man on the moon There has got to be away to fix this.

I remember this discussion but I don’t remember a solution. Have you tried a pressure regulator? This might help the water to last longer which in turn you may not have to turn it off as much; just a thought.

I guess the good news (at least for me) is that the water heater is only a few feet from the shower! Faster lathering is the answer. Maybe Susie can help you and speed it up...?

I used to fight that cold water problem also when turning it off and on with that pushbutton on the shower. But I eventually figured out that with the water heater on both electric and propane at the same time I could continue running the water and it would stay hot thru my whole shower without turning it off. And I do not particularly hurry it up. Works even if the DW has just finished her shower.

The problem seems to be that the cold water pressure is greater than the hot water pressure. So when the shower head is set to dribble, the cold water starts to push the hot back into the supply pipe and just cold water comes out the shower head.

The fix is to use a check valve in the PEX as close to the faucet as possible. This check valve stops the cold water from pushing the hot water back.

Here is some added reading on the subject: http://www.rv.net/cforum/index.cfm/f...g/24177321.cfm

The check valve in the added reading is not available from the supplier listed, but, you can get a SHARKBITE
http://www.sharkbite.com/

You just cut a small section of the PEX out and push the PEX into the SHARKBITE. Sharkbite check valves cost around $12.00.

Tom I will look into the sharkbites I have a sil in a hardware store. I can let it run and not run out of hot water but I like to cut it off when soaping up.
