Raise rear axle one inch?

Our rear axle springs keep the rear of the frame up about one inch above the front. Also, the front of the Monty frame is about one inch higher than at the axles. So, I would like to drop the rear ot the truck about one inch and level them both, which will make for excellent stop and go camping for long trips. Any ideas?

Go down to the Chevy dealer or a good auto parts and you can get lowering shakles. I also wanted to drop the rear of my truck. It is an easy install, two bolts on each side, maybe 1hr, tops.
I dropped mine 2" and made the truck level. I drive a 2002 3/4 chevy LB.

can you raise the hitch on the front of the trailer through those holes where the pin box is?

If I raise the pin box on the Monty, then the gap between the Monty and the bed rails is too little.

Dave, some hitches are also adjustable for height. I don't know if yours is or not.

Our hitch is adjustable for height. However, just like the suggestion to raise the pinbox, lowering the hitch reduces the clearance between the bedrails and the underside of the bedroom frame.

Check for spacers at the leaf springs. Find out what you have, then replace them with spacers 1" thinner. I learned about this when I did some suspension work on my TV. It is very labor intensive and you need to replace U-bolts (I was TOLD not to reuse them). You'll also need to make sure the U-bolts will have enough thread to fasten the nuts back down when you tighten the spring pack back together.

OK, I'm totally confused. I was thinking you needed to raise the hitch, not lower it. My bad!!
