Like a lot of others posting on this site I have not heard anything about additives for newer diesels using ULSD. However for older trucks, like my 04 dodge, I do use an additive. This was based on what I read on The diesel place web site, with a test of additives: the link is http://www.johnfjensen.com/Diesel_fu...itive_test.pdf. Although it is rated No. 10 I use Diesel Kleen, as it can usually be found at Walmart and most truck stops. Does it help? I only have 50K on the truck, so only time will tell, hope this info helps anyone who might look at this thread.

Was in for service today, and the service manager said that the 6.0 you want to use a centane boster, 6.4 and 6.7 you do not need to use it.

Never use them. If it wont run on what comes out of the pump I have the wrong truck. (unless it is an older truck not designed to run on ULSD) I think diesels are getting killed with emissions (very poorly designed and we pick up the bill for it). Now you have to fertilize (UREA) and water them (Additives)????? My next truck will be a gas truck or I will keep what I have until the wheels fall off. We are slowly destroying a good design making it unreliable and cost prohibitive to operate. I just spent $400.00 on an EGR cleaning. It's out of hand.

So no I don't use them . Whew, I am worked up and its barely past 7 AM.

The new diesels running ULSD run best at a centane rating of 45. Most diesel fuel out of the pump is 40/42...look it up..

My question is- What year and month did the latest specs for diesel fuel become manditory (sp?)- What year and month did the previous specs become effective? Knowing these 2 dates might tell us what we need to know what to add to todays fuel to enable our diesels to operate most effectively and efficiently- I feel older diesels NEED some additives to be most efficient and last as long as they should- I always used additives in my 95 7.3- JMHO- Don
