If you look behind the winterizing cover- the false cabinet on the floor just in front of the LR tv- you will see it.

Someone told me that in some of the newer units, the water pump is actually in the storage locker area. If you can't find it where gungho suggests, try there. (or just turn it on and follow your ears). As for quieting it down, we have had good luck by placing foam pipe insulation at points of contact. Others have remounted the pump with sound damping material.

It's hard to find but I wish they could make it harder, like bury it somewhere so it's not so noisy. If there's such an obvious problem with these little buggers, why doesn't the company remedy the situation? Just a thought.

Well it's like the blower motor on furnace the both make noise. But look at the alternative if they were quiet the would not be working.
My blower on furnace stopped making noie Christmas day last year, motor burnt out took 11/2 wks to get it fixed. I now love to hear it.

Since they changed the heater/winterizer thing on the 3400, it might be in a different place now because the winterizer thing is in on the kitchen side I think. The return air vent is under the steps going to the bedroom.
Happy trails...................

You can put flexible water lines between the water pump and the plastic lines and insulate the lines where ever they touch another line or framing to help quiet it down.

That furnace does sound sweet when it kicks in. Can't say the same about the water pump....yet.

I don't know where the pump is on the 3400 but my guess is it would be close to the fresh water tank filler.

My 3500RL has the water pump in the storage compartment (door side). It is behind a wall panel which is held by only 4 sheet metal screws. Once removed there is plenty of room in there to work.

Replace it with one of Surely smart sensor pumps. They are quiet and work MUCH better then the original ones. When you trade you can take the higher end pump with you and put the little one back and then someone else's problem

Hazmic, welcome to the forum from another Iowa native. Glen is from New Hampton. Glad to see that you're improving the view in Iowa with another beautiful Montana.

Thank you jrgwdenner. i see i should have prof read a little closer. it should be Sure Flo. also a filter is available for the pump but i would think that over. it holds water in it and if you can't get at it to drain you might get sick from bad water that is sitting in the filter. the pump is great

hazmic, what if you're FTing? Would you still have a problem with the filter? Also, do you have a website for the Sure Flo?

if you use the pump everyday the water would not be stale. in Iowa it gets hot in the summer and i feel that water could get bad if not used often. faster when it gets hotter out. not all water is city or treated water and possible to have things you might not want. i guess we need to talk to someone that knows about bacteria. the possibly of bad water is my feeling. like they say in Mexico, don't drink the water.
the pump is a sure-Flo smart sensor and sold by cw and dealers.

I fill our water tank to 2/3 to full, depending on the situation. It sits in the tank for several months (up to 6 months) before I drain whatever remains and refill it. We've never had a problem with the water going bad, even in the Kansas heat and humidity.

We have an '04 Mountaineer TT. The pump is "shock mounted" (mounted on sound isolators) and actually isn't that loud when running. The problem is the way Keystone routes the water supply lines from the pump throughout the rig. As has been mentioned here, I have found that placing foam pipe insulation on the supply lines wherever they come in contact with the walls or framing helps a lot in quieting things down. What an easy thing to do during the build process...go figure why they don't.

Hi~~
We have an '04 3400. Our water pump is located in the island (or "L"), somewhere near the furnace & HW heater. It's really easy to get to -- you just take apart your lower kitchen cabinets and there it is!

Jackel 1959 observations are correct. The pump on our TT was insulated from the floor and the pipe was properly routed and insulated at problem spots. We took note of the pump and lines on our factory tour of the Montana plant the noise issue is a keystone issue not a pump issue (most of the time) Just another of the things that the owner will have to do to improve the quality of the unit..and...there is no such thing as a absolutly quite pump..it is a pump..it pumps..and it will make SOME noise.
