App for Finding Satellites

We have a Winegard Carryout and love it. Sure beats trying to point the tripod antenna. I was never good at it. Even with the Carryout it is sometimes uncertain as to if there is a clear view to the Dish satellites. There is a smartphone app called Dishpointer that is really helpful. You just start the app and the camera is activated. Point the camera where you think the satellites should be and it will show them on the camera and you can see if there are obstructions. It is available for both Iphone and Android but not free.

We use this app even though we have the MotoSat HD DP-3 auto finding dish. The reason? When in or near trees, we'll look for obstructions prior to setting up.

Been using that app for a year or so to set up a Dish 1000.4 really makes it a no-brainer. Well worth the money.
