Whoopie! We bought a truck!

We went for a ride on Saturday to see pricing on vehicles. Ten hours later we had located a truck better equipped than we expected for what seemed a good price, arranged a trade-in, and signed the papers. On Monday I took the trade-in there and drove the truck home.
We live in western Pennsylvania, about 15 miles from the Ohio border. I had been looking for about 8 months, on the internet, to see what prices and options were out there, along with locations that had 1-ton trucks for sale.
Until Saturday, I thought we may have had to fly to Texas and drive one home, but I found Performance GMC Trucks in Ohio, on hour away, which is where we went to "look," since they have about 100 trucks on the lot.
We ended up with a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LT, K3500 dually, 6.6 liter diesel, and loaded with options. I'm not much of a "brand specific" person, but wanted a GMC or Chevrolet, 2005 or newer, because those two types and years of vehicles will accept the Banks Electronic Braking system, which I want to have.
So, we now have a year, until June, 2011, when April retires, to get the truck set up exactly the way we want it for fulltime towing!!!
We have not owned a dually or a diesel before, so I imagine I will be posting questions for at least the next year as I try to work on it.
This is our first major financial commitment (I'm not counting the last 5 years of research and reading and talking) toward fulltiming and we are excited!!! Progress toward our goals is exciting, especially when we can look out the window and see it in the garage .
I'll be "talking" to y'all.

Congratulations on the new purchase. Sounds like a good choice. Once you get the feel for the dually and get used to the diesel you will probably never go back.

Hi Larry, I went from a GM 2500 short box extended cab, to a 3500 dually crew cab long box, (both Dmax) and didn't really notice that much difference driving it without towing, other than sometimes having to park further away in malls.
Even DW drives it now, after saying "no way am I going to drive that thing to go shopping!" Shopping obviously won out.
Towing the trailer on the other hand, IMHO, there is a big difference in stability.

Nice rig Larry. I had Silverado's in my service business sweet rides, nothing like a new truck.
When I got my first Diesel, I took it to town, drove slow through the buildings with the windows down. Oh Mamma!
Remember: Real trucks have no spark plugs...

Congratulations on your new truck. Now you can have a good time fixing it up the way you want it.

Larry,
Curiosity has stricken me, seems if I remember correctly that there are two models of the 07's, the classic and the new body style. The new body style had some anti-pollution techno stuff added. I have the classic and it is a great vehicle. Expound upon your post and clue us in as to which model you got. As you can tell from the signature below, I also am just a little biased. Congratulations.

Thanks to everyone.
I guess I have to update my signature now that I'm "1/2 way there," as Rich says (I say, "1/2 way rig-wise, less than 1/3 way financially.)

Bingo, I'm sorry to hear you're "stricken." Let me "unstrick"(?)you. (New words fascinate me.)

It's a white "Classic LT." It has many options like heated-power-leather seats, chrome "racing-style" wheels, custom grill, heated mirrors, etc, etc. (I love the outside temperature and the compass heading in the rearview mirror )

Rich, yep, that's the dealer. Close to your home, eh?

I'll keep you updated as I "outfit" the truck and fix the few things that need fixing (bed liner abuse, tailgate top liner needs replaced, need mud flaps).

Great truck. I think the 06 and 07 dnax trucks are the best towing trucks ever built, and I drive an 08 6.4 Ford.

Phil, I'm going to go with a louvered driver's side window and let the sparkle in my eyes, when I look out, replace diamonds.
