MPG for Ford powerstroke 6,0

I have been getting a lot of smoke on the Diesel forum concerning the performance of the 2005 Ford 6.0 powerstroke, as to MPG on both loaded and solo running. Looking for reliable info from Montana guys.
truck has only 28000 miles, SRW Shortbox. Pulling my 2007 ,3075 RL, I run about 60-62 MPH, total load all axles 19800. I get 10.2 MPG.
However running solo 60-65 I get 13.5 can this be the typical, seems mighty low ! Thanks for your input. Don

I had a 2004 which was the same as your 2005 and your numbers do look a little low. I got 15-16 street driving, and 19-20 on the highway and average of 16.5 to 17 MPGs easily, but the truck had Banks product improvements (Computer and exhaust). I towed a 9,000 lb TT and got about 13-14 MPGs.

I am talking about an F-250 SRW SB with a 3.73 differential. What is your Model, & differential?

I now have a 2006 F-250 with a 6.0, and my numbers are about the same, except with towing because the RV is now 13,000 lbs, GCVWs of 22,000. An increase of about 3,000 to 4,000 lbs.

My 2006 F250 SRW Short bed gets 10.5 to 11.0 towing my 2008 2955RL. With a mix of town and highway I get around 17. And straight highway I get 19.5.

Old Swede, I have a '05 F350 ,duals, 4.10 gears. I have an'07 3000RK. Gross combined weight about 19,650 lbs. Towing in the hills,I get around 8.75 to 9.5 mpg.Flat lands, I get 10.2 to 11 mpg dependant on the terrain , hand calculated. I've only once driven it solo enough to feel that I had a good reading,(about 500 mi. one day) and I got 17.5 at around 65/68 mph . I have just under 40 k on the truck. Bill

I must be living lucky. I just did a cross-country trip and got 19.4 gallons with two people and some gear. Then loaded up the truck to about 9500 lbs, and came back and the mpgs dropped to 17.5.

I drove no more than 5 mph over speed limit, no matter what it was and used cruise control 95% of the trip both ways. Roundtrip was 5500 miles.

Traveling locally to visit family, I will reset the MPG computer after I am at speed on the highways and at the endpoint, I will show just a hair over 23 MPGs. If I do a point to point without any resets, I will show over 20 MPGs.

I don't know the truck weight empty, but with camping gear, 5er hitch, DW and I and our little chihuahua we are at 8400 lbs.

I think I am high, but I am not complaining. I am in the process of adding some suspension components and heavier tires to match and I expect my mileage to drop with the extra weight. I have 53,000 miles on my 2006 truck

We towed with a 2003 and a 2005 6.0 for many miles. Towing varied with conditions and ran anywhere from 10.0 to a little under 12 with 10.5 to 11.5 being most common. Solo town driving averaged around 15. Highway solo driving at 65-70 varied from 17 to 20 depending on conditions with 18 being most common. Total miles for the two trucks was about 170k with maybe 75k of that towing.

Old Swede,
Our 06 F250 long box 4X4 (no chip) delivers 10-10.5 when towing at 70 mph, our total weight is 19,200 lbs with the 2955 in tow. Solo it's 17-18 mpg, also I use the Stanadyne additive at the rate of 2.5 oz. per 10 gallons. Your rig should do better running solo.

We have a 2005 like yours but with the long bed crew cab. We now have 130,000 miles on it so it is just about broken in. We get about 10 mpg towing our Big Sky and got about 10.5 with our 3475rl. We get between 17 & 18 MPG without our house behind it. We usually tow at about 58-60 mph.

I have an '07 F350 CC LB 6.0 3.73 SRW with 41,000 miles pulling a 3075RL. Gets a little over 10 mpg pulling at 65-70. Gets about 20 at 65-70 not pulling. Around 15 combined highway/city.
