Williamsburg, Va

The DW and I are going to the Outdoor World near Williamsburg later this month. I would like to; 1.Hear of any special advise pertaining to that area. 2.Does anyone know of a good place to get firewood, as it is not a good idea to transport it from out of state? Thanks, Jim

I wish I could help you a lot more but when we were there we were in a SOB M/H and we were broke down for about half of the time we were there. If you have any problems I could probably recommend where you could get some help. We did stay at the Heritage RV Park which I thought was really nice. I would like to return to that area again in the future. I can't remember seeing any campfires when we were there either. Not sure if they allowed them.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious but visiting the "historical triangle" of Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown are a real treat.

Also, in our travels we've found pizza at the Jamestown Pie Company to be absolutely the best we've ever had anywhere. Second is a tie between Mystic Pizza in Mystic, CT and Tommy's Pizza in Gettysburg, PA, but Jamestown Pie Company, where "round food is good food" is the best we've ever had. So far, anyhow.

American Heritage RV Park does allow outdoor fires only in the provided fire barrels. We also have stayed here and enjoyed it.

Thanks for all the replies. Steve, we will be doing the historical triangle thing I'm sure. Also, I let you know about the pizza, as we have a pizza place close to our home that has great pizza. We are staying at the Williamsburg Outdoor World, since we are Outdoor World members.(Can't beat free) Jim

Be careful of the trees in Outdoor world's Williamsburg CG. While in the area, try Outdoor worlds HarborView at Oak Grove. There is a lot of history in the northern neck country and the Fredericksburg area of Virginia. Outdoor World in Williamsburg is across the street from Heritage campgrounds. As far as wood is concerned, Outdoor World normally has it for sale at the store.
